“That View Will Keep Us Coming Back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Husband & I just returned from our first overnight stay in Cannon Beach (a Saturday in mid-February). We took advantage of an e-blast special sent by Hallmark and had a delightful time! The best part about our stay was THAT VIEW! I knew the inn's location, but it's not 'til you enter your room and see Haystack Rock looming in the distance that the majesty really sinks in. We couldn't get enough of simply sitting on our balcony looking at the scenery. If you plan on spending any length of time relaxing in your room, get one with a view of Haystack Rock.

Our room itself was a bit dated (looked like the late 1970's) but all in working order and very clean. The queen size Murphy bed reminded me of my studio in the West Village - those contraptions are pure genius for saving space. We didn't avail ourselves of the amenities of the resort (pool, spa, laundry, etc.), so I can't comment on those, but the gentleman at the front desk at check-in recommended Wayfarers (on the property) and Castaways Tini Tiki Hut (at the north end of town) and both were excellent - thank you!!! Both have extensive, interesting cocktail lists. The resident seagull paid us a visit on our balcony. There's a nice lighted staircase leading down to the beach with a few viewing platforms along the way.

We look forward to returning.

Room Tip: The room numbers ending in 20–27 are closest to Haystack Rock and have excellent views. (We were in...

Hello Martrese,

I am glad to hear you enjoyed your visit last weekend. As the closest resort to Haystack Rock, many of our guestrooms do have incredible views. We strive to provide service that is as awesome as the view so I would love to hear what we could have done to make your stay even more enjoyable. If you have a moment, please drop me a note at kirby@hallmarkinns.com.

You will be happy to hear that we are currently in the design stages of remodeling all the guestrooms so the older look is soon to be replaced with fresh, new finishes. Thank you for choosing the Hallmark Resort for your first visit to Cannon Beach and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.

Sincerely,
Kirby Blankenship

“The only place we stay in Cannon Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This is a great place to stay during the winter storm season. One of the main reasons we stay here is that they accept dogs. I should emphasize that they don't just allow dogs, they really welcome them and are very friendly towards them. The last time we stayed there, we had a room in the "back" building on the top floor. It had a great view and was very comfortable, so we requested that room again and got it. The second morning we were there, they called and asked if we would be willing to move to a suite in the oceanfront building so that they could do some repair and painting on the building. We moved into a very nice oceanfront suite on the top floor. It had a fantastic view and was very comfortable. The pool and hot tub are nice (the hot tub is actually hot and not lukewarm!) The staff is very friendly and the property is very well maintained.

Room Tip: Any of the oceanfront rooms have a good view. The northwest view rooms in the upper building have a...

“A FUN AND ROMANTIC TIME”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This resort is awesome for getting away. It does not have a restaurant on site, but they have a nice mini fridge and microwave. There are some very nice restaurants and "coffee shops" close by. Now on to the Hallmark, the staff is VERY nice and generous, they greet you when you come in and just shortly after you arrive they call your room to make sure everything is in order and to your liking. If you need anything they get it to you right away or you can go to the front dest and get it. The ocean front rooms are great, you get a great view of "Hay Stack Rock" it's just lovely. The seagulls, have made friends with previous guests and decided to become our friends too, you only get one on your balcony (thats good) and he just stares at you and hopes you will feed him :-) The fireplace in the rooms are nice, the heat is like you want when you are at home, if you are cold turn it on and the room gets warm extremely quick, nice for those cold or rainy walks! The swimming pool is nice, not too warm and not too cold, the hot tubs are nice and the steam room is great. The facilities are clean, the maids do a great job each day cleaning, the maintenance crew does great, they are always busy painting, staining, planting flowers, washing windows, or cleaning the pool. Just a lovely little romanic 3 nights - thank you Hallmark for making it such!

Room Tip: Of course an Ocean front room is the best, but I am sure all the rooms are great. the higher up the...

Hello LF,
Thanks for taking the time to reveiw your recent stay with us and I'm happy to see you had a good time. Yes, the winter months are the time for fixing up the place and I'm glad to see you noticed. We do have stairs to get to the upper floors of guestrooms, but on the oceanfront, we do have an elevator that takes the strain out of getting your luggage to the top floor. We's also be happy to deliver your luggage to your room for you if you'd like to feel pampered.

Thanks again for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again in the near future!

“The perfect place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

My True Love and I booked 2 nights in a queen room on the ocean side. We were given a room in the corner with a perfect view of the ocean and the "hay stacks". The room was just what we wanted! We have stayed there several times and the people are always helpful and friendly. We tend to go to Cannon Beach in the off-season, but are still treated like valued guests. The staff are sincere about wanting to know how the stay was and what could be done to improve it. Cannon Beach is a great destination to have as a frequent get-a-away, and Hallmark Resort is the place to stay!

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floor are easy to get to, quieter and have the best views.

“Place is OK, and the location is tops!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I feel the physical facilities here are somewhat better than average, but keep in mind that my idea of "average" and yours probably differ. The bathroom of my unit was somewhat dated (old tub, toilet, tile), and the pool and hot tubs seemed old. But when I was there they were doing a slow upgrade (more in the Fall, they said). But the location is great (just a short walk to the stores, yet far enough from them to seem "residential") and if you have an ocean room the view of Haystack Rock from your room and deck is spectacular! The place sits high on the bluff, so it's a long walk down their steps to the beach (not handicapped accessible). Despite what some people say, I found the desk staff to be nice (and I've been there twice in 2 years). Keep in mind that the place consists of 5 buildings, 3 of which are connected and are on the beach (high up on the bluff), while the other 2 are behind those 3, so may have no views of Haystack Rock. There are also 4-5 vacation bungalows on the beach (lower down on the bluff) and some townhouse suites, but I don't think those suites have views. And the exercise room is fine, if small. The beach units in the 3 main buildings could be considered a bit pricy, but hey - what place isn't on a beach in Oregon, and the views of Haystack Rock make it all worthwhile. That rock never ceases to please me, and when the tide is low the marine life is also spectacular. My guess is that this place may have the very best hotel view of the rock in all of Cannon Beach.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a view of the rock.

Hello Boba543 and thanks for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us. We are happy to let you know we are planning a complete remodel of the property in 2012. Much of the exterior work is planned for this spring and the guestrooms are scheduled for the fall. I look forward to sharing our improvements with you on your next visit.

Since I returned to manage this resort last June, it has been my passion to return our customer service to legendary levels. I am happy to hear that you found our front desk staff nice, but I see you only rated us a 3 for service. I'd love to know what we could have done to make your stay more enjoyable. If you have the time, please contact be personally at kirby@hallmarkinns.com to discuss it.

I agree we have the best views of Cannon Beach and Haystack Rock of any resorts in town. We are the closest to Haystack Rock and with our elevation, you overlook all of Cannon Beach, miles of pristine beaches, Haystack Rock, Tillamook Lighthouse, and Tillamook Head. The sunsets are breathtaking. We do have level beach access available from our Hallmark Suites. You can walk across the street to the ocean from these guestrooms.

I'm glad to see you are making the Hallmark Resort a Tradition when you visit the Oregon coast and we look forward to seeing you again in 2012.

Sincerely,
Kirby Blankenship
