“Close to Beach and a good Winter Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

The Courtyard offered 25% off its winter rates last week and that was enough to give it a try on my one day trip to Cannon Beach.
The clerks were both friendly and helpful when I phoned, and when I physically checked in. The room was very clean, warm, and presentable. I had trouble locating both thermostats (the bathroom had one too) and I was so tired by the time I did I turned it the wrong way, which made the room far too warm.
It had a small kitchen, but the front burner seemed to be inoperable, not that I needed it.
The bed was very comfortable, and the room was ab solutely quiet.
The "library" in a second room, serving the whole complex, was very comfortable, but they need to devise a better security system for it, since it has a computer for the benefit of the guests. When I checked it out, two people were using the computer, which I found strange since my card was the only car in the courtyard. When they left, the walked to the motel across the street and entered one of those rooms. Perhaps each Courtyard guest could be given a key to the Library as well.
The Courtyard location is excellent. One half block to beach access and very close to Haystack Rock.
I would recommend this lodging, but NOT at summer prices! However, that's just me. I'm always on some kind of budget!

Room Tip: I suspect all rooms are good...others have said top floors are quieter, but I experienced no noise.

“Great 1st impression, but disappointed lasting impression.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

Our third visit to this particular hotel. Each visit we encountered something either not working right, or just not satisfactory for the price. A broken and unclean couch, carpet slimy or smelly. Or window blinds not working. This time is our last visit. The coffee pot was broken and spilled coffee, the sink stopper was broken, the radio didn't work, and we had to have a repairman in for the fireplace. While a jacuzzi/spa is enticing, it does not bode well if you would like to rest. The noise from others using the convenience disrupt the quiet in other rooms. The convenience of a microwave and small 'fridge is great, but bring your own utensils. Small annoyances, but enough to ruin a great visit to a lovely location. Other area lodging has proven to be much more thoughtful of visitors wanting a quiet getaway and no worry about finding a fork or knife. Walking further to the beach is worth it, knowing your return to the room will provide comfort, quiet and functioning amenities. We are used to camping, so we did not want "luxury" hotels, just comfort and working essentials.

While it is close to the water, nice location, the amenities are not as good as they first appear.
As another visitor encountered, calling for assistance and follow-up is a nightmare. I think they are taught to be nice, but are not required to follow-up. Very disappointing. We visit Cannon Beach often, but will consider other lodging.

Room Tip: Higher floors on the back side have a better view. Check sinks, fireplaces, windows, etc. before un...

“Beyond terrible management & service. Stay away!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

My wife and I purchased a recent Groupon deal, and stayed here in early November. My wife and I visit the Oregon Coast many times a year, and have been doing this for many years. This was our first stay in Cannon Beach, however.

The room was fine at first, but on the last night, the ceiling started leaking, and water was pouring into our room from above. We assume it was from the room above us having over filled the bathtub. It was a good thing we were in our room because the water started pouring, not dripping, but pouring on to the table where our laptop and DSLR camera was. Both got wet, but, fortunately for everyone, we were able to move them to prevent damage.

We called the front desk, and told them water was coming into our room and was causing a mess. We were told someone would come check on the room above us, then check on our room to help us clean up and see if we should get another room. We used all the towels, plates, dishes, etc, to keep the water from causing a further mess.

We waited and waited, and waited, eventually falling alseep hours later when nobody came to our room. The following morning, no follow up call, no nothing. We checked out and discussed our issue with the lady at the fron desk. Seeming stunned that happened, all she could say was, she was sorry it happened, and hope we enjoyed our stay.

A couple days later we received an email asking us about our trip, and that they valued the feedback of their customers. I find that hard to believe they value any feedback. I detailed out what happened, and that I was unhappy, and sent it off. Two weeks later, no respond. I then forwarded the email to the general manager, Monique. Giving them ample time to reply, or at least acknowledge my email, I never received a response at all. They are only concerned with getting the money from the customer, then not giving a crap whatsoever.

Do me, and yourself, a favor and stay somewhere else. You will have a much more enjoyable time, and if something goes wrong, you will probably have an employee who cares enough to help. Thanks for reading.

Cheers.

Room Tip: Choose another hotel :)

“Enjoyed it a lot. Would come again.”

The Courtyard is one of several properties owned by Cannon Beach Hotel. Courtyard is an older property that maintained the quaint and cozy feel even though it seems to have been renovated recently. If you are looking for luxury this is not it and you are better off looking for one of the mainstream hotels in the area. I, personally, liked Courtyard a lot. It is not spacious, the bathroom is a bit on the small side, the plumbing is a bit loud but none of it bothered me enough to not visit again. As a matter of fact, the uniqueness gives it a lot of character. The location is also great. It is not beach front but it is literally less than a minute walk to the beach. It is also minutes walking from downtown Cannon Beach. We visited as part of Groupon deal and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Look for specials and you will not regret it.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 14 and we liked it. It had two queen beds and a small kitchenette. It is on the ma...
