Whenever we visit the Oregon coast the Ocean Lodge is our stay of choice. It's like an old-fashioned beach house with all of the amenities. Very comfortable and sparkling rooms, outstanding staff, great breakfast, and they have great pet-friendly rooms. The rooms on the beach have a great view of Haystack Rock. We always feel so welcome at the Ocean Lodge.

We made a spur of the moment plan and booked an "obstructed view" room on the top floor. It was a stormy weekend and planned to mostly relax in our room and on the beach. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the room had a view of the ocean and Haystack Rock, and actually enjoyed sitting on the deck because the so called "obstruction" blocked the wind and rain. We slept with the window cracked and listened to the waves crashing all night.

The room was quite large, had vaulted ceilings, a fireplace and big bathroom with jetted tub. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We borrowed some newly released DVDs from the front desk and had a few of the fresh baked cookies they keep in the lobby.

The only thing that might be a detraction for some was the free continental breakfast. It was passable with some decent assorted baked goods and juice, but was a little sparse. It could very well be that the spread was a reflection of it being off-season.

In all, we were checking our calendars to come back well before the end of the trip.

We stayed two nights in July, and I still think about how much I loved this hotel. It's right on the beach and you can hear the waves crashing all night, which is so soothing. I had never been to Oregon, so I didn't know what to expect of the beach. It was so romantic, even though the weather was overcast and not warm, there was such a nice atmosphere on the beach-- families, couples, people running and biking and walking their dogs. Also, I loved that you can wade out and see starfish and other marine life around the big rocks. That was so much fun and among the highlights of staying here!

I think the hotel does a great job of making you feel relaxed right away. I was totally charmed by the fact that you can make little fires on the beach and roast s'mores. I didn't do it (too cozy inside), but I could see the fires from my room. Maybe if we go back, I'd make sure to make a fire on the beach too.

We have stayed at the Ocean Lodge many times over the past five years. Each stay offers a good time, wonderful breakfast, clean and quiet room, and fabulous views of the ocean. Centrally located it allows you to walk the beach or to one of the restaurants you might like to visit.

The staff goes above and beyond expectations. Our room has always been spotless, our animals greeted and accommodated, and all of our requests and questions addressed. One evening our dog appeared to have run off during the fireworks on the 4th of July. Vic scoured
the beach looking for him and offered comfort until he was located.

We return several times each year to enjoy the hotel, staff, and view. The beach is just outside your door. Great to stay rain or shine.

If you bring a pet an upstairs room or one of the bungalows are better choices than the first floor.
