“Awesome location, nice sites”

We stayed at Wright's for Camping in August for 3 nights with friends. We had campspot #18 which I highly recommend. Ours was the last site in a long row, so quite private compared to the rest. When we got to the site, we did notice that the ground had nicely been raked in anticipation of our arrival, which was very pleasant and appreciated.

The staff were friendly to us, even though they tried to double-charge our friends for their stay once they arrived (we had pre-paid for all of us, yet the young staffer insisted that we had not). The bathrooms were amazing, clean, and had wonderful hot-water showers. The laundry room with a nice soak sink for dishes and laundry facilities were handy too. Wood for fires was $5/bundle and often a tad damp...so bring your own wood if you'd like to have a successful fire - or some gas.

Otherwise, the campsite is about a 2 minute drive from downtown Cannon Beach and/or a 5 min walk. The town is wonderful and very fun to explore - don't miss the candy shoppe and wine shack!

All in all, a great place to stay - would recommend it!

“A blue-ribbon campground ....”

We spent ten wonderful days camping at Wright's this summer. This family-run campground is celebrating their 50th year, and it's easy to see why they continue to be a favorite among generations of campers. The beautiful wooded setting; the walking-distance proximity to the awesome beach; the friendly, helpful family/staff; and the exceptionally clean and well-maintained bathhouse make this a blue-ribbon campground. We already have reservations for next summer!

“Perfect place to camp @ Cannon Beach”

We just came back from a 3-night stay at Wright's for Camping and our entire group loved it!

Site: Our site was in a really good location (one site on one side and a ditch separating us on the other side). There are a couple of font sites that are in not-good positions so thankfully we didn't get them (Avoid camp #4 if possible). When we arrived, the ground was raked. It was big enough to fit two cars and two tents. Firewood was only $5 per box but it was damp from the previous nights. The washrooms were CLEAN with FREE showers. There's a coin laundry available with a sink in there to wash dishes. It's an obvious family-friendly, family-operated site with it's basic "office" but otherwise friendly staff.

Location: Withing walking distance of Cannon Beach though we drove with all the chairs and other stuff we brought. Basically drove into Seaside as needed for groceries at Safeway or grab a Starbucks coffee.

Will definitely go again!

“Wright's was the RIGHT choice!!!”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wright's Campground in Cannon Beach! The sites were woodsy and green with fern and were also very well groomed upon arrival. The staff was also very friendly. I loved that the bathrooms and showers were always clean and there were laundry facilities and a utility sink for cleaning dishes right in the rear of the building. The campsites were of all different sizes and some were more private than others. Site 18 is large and the most private as it's located at the end of the culdesac. We reserved sites 17 and 18 and it worked out great for our families. I wouldn't recommend the sites near the entrance.

The campground is just a short walk to the beach and to the many shops along the main drag. Enjoy!

“Not paradise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2008

At first glance, this sounded like camping paradise: family-owned, close to a drop-dead gorgeous beach, highly recommended by friends. We arrived on a Thursday evening, planning to stay for three nights with several friends; we had booked five separate sites to not exceed the 6-person per site limit. Our site was the next to last at the back of the campground.
We very much appreciated the well-kept sites, spotless bathrooms (though dividers you can see over are a bit odd, as are shared showers), and the laundry sink for doing dishes. Beautiful surroundings and a short, pleasant walk to the beach add to the appeal. Plenty of cute signs reminding folks of the rules (keeping fires in rings, washing off beach sand, recycling, etc.) create the sense that this is a family place and reminds you to to be on your best behavior.
We had no issues until the next night: At 1 a.m., we were woken by the sound on metal crunching on metal and lights flashing into our tent. It was clear that someone was arriving very late, but we weren't the only ones roused from a deep sleep to wonder if it was our fender that had been bent (it wasn't). After half an hour of listening to them backing a trailer into place, with commensurate yelling and headlights and flashlight light show on our tent wall--into the already full spot next to us, they proceeded to noisily light a fire and open a couple of beers to shoot the breeze. At this point, we joined the parade of fellow campers in asking them to please finish up quietly so we could get some sleep.
When we emerged from our tent the next morning, we counted at least ten people in the site next to us: the limit is six. Two other parties had arrived during the same night: no one had heard them come in. Police, summoned by someone else, arrived and talked to the folks in the overfilled site: noted that there were too many of them (police counted twelve), and left. The owner showed up, surprised that someone had called the police, since it wasn't her.
We took this the opportunity to talk to the owner to convey our concerns and to make sure that she was going to ask the excess campers to leave. She told us that if we were unhappy with the number of of people in the site next to us, we could leave: as long as we were out in two hours, she wouldn't charge us. Needless to say, we were flabbergasted: she made it amply clear that she did not intend to enforce either the six-person limit or quiet hours, stating that it was bad for business. What floors us is that she made these statements in front of a long-time repeat customer, who was equally appalled. Apparently, she thinks it more important to not mess with rule-breakers, preferring to alienate repeat business.
The bottom line: a beautiful, clean campground, but you risk being chased out by hooligans and cannot expect support from management.
