“Beautiful Scenery and Amazing water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

Though it is a bit off the beaten path (which i really like), it is well worth the drive! About 30 mins from Burns, Oregon it offers camping and cabins - there is also a common camp kitchen availabel for everyone, and a common tv/ computer area in the lounge. Camping is inexpensive, but a bit exposed.
The Hot Springs are amazing! All natural slough/ wetland complete with ducks in the water! It was great. The water temperature was perfect. I love the natural outdoor hot springs.
There are also showers available to use.
Definitely one of the highlights of our trip. :)
Staff was also very friendly.

“Extremely Rude”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2010

I called Crystal Cane to place a reservation for later that day. I spoke with the manager and she said they had rooms available - she would take my name and pencil it in for a room. Luckily, I called an hour prior to my arrival and was told "we have no rooms" and slammed the phone down. This was extremely disappointing -I was looking forward to the hot springs. I am so glad I did not arrive to the property to find I had no place to stay, and did not have to deal with an Extremely Rude Manager.

We require a credit card number to secure a reservation. When someone calls and does not provide a credit card number, I tell them that I will gladly 'pencil them in'', as the reviewer indicated. However, I always let them know that the reservation is *not* confirmed, and that if another customer calls or drives in, I will have to rent the unit, We only have five cabins, so the chances of a cabin being rented are high. When I am done telling customers this, I urge them to give us a ring before their arrival to make sure the cabin is available, which this rerviewer did. I am sorry if someone hung up on the person. I cannot imagine any of our staff behaving that way.

I believe our policies are standard for small resorts. We cannot turn paying customers away from cabins that have not been formally reserved.

“disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2010

Just returned from 10 days of birding in Eastern Oregon. It was a fantastic trip except for our night at Crane Hot Springs. The pump was broken in the hotsprings and the owner was unwilling to make ANY sort of amends. It felt as though the owner didn't care if we were disappointed.

Two days later we stayed at Hotel Diamond and there water stopped working for a night. They gave every guest a 50% reduction on their room for the inconvenience.

“Inexpensive camping and friendly people.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2009

My partner and I recently camped at Crystal Springs. I have nothing bad to say about it. Our experience was great. Camping is inexpensive, there are indoor kitchen facilities to use and a comfortable lounge to hang out in with tv and wi-fi and tables, showers and bathrooms were clean and Bridgette, (I hope I got her name right) was very helpful and friendly to us. The hot springs were hot and you can tell they've put a lot of work into upkeep and the quality of the surrounding areas.
We didn't stay in the cabins at all, but they looked nice and well kept.
The only thing I would change about this place is the location - though it's beautiful and open and a wonderful high desert view it's a bit far from all the area sites that I go there to photograph.
Though I've personally spent a lot of time in the area alone and with photo groups, I wouldn't say that many parts of eastern Oregon are very "gay friendly" so we were a little cautious about where we stayed, but I felt very comfortable and safe here. I will definitely go back again.

“A cabin at a rustic hot spring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2009

The facility provides areas for camping and some cabins to rent. There's a common kitchen area and TV area for guest use. We stayed in the only cabin with its own bathroom. The sleeping part of the cabin is smaller than that of the others, but having the bathroom attached was worth the compromise in space. The cabin and bathroom were clean, the windows would open, and the bed was comfy. The hot spring's incoming water temperature varies some naturally, but it can be moderated enough to even out the swings. The bottom of the hot spring has pebbles at the entrance, but away from there it's more "natural" (algae & mud). No biggie, it's still real nice to be in. Very nice all in all, not overdone and not too rustic.
