We stayed here for 2 nights for our Anniversary in November. We'd never been to Bend before so everything was new to us. This place is kind of a compound....multiple buidings, golf course, convention center, restaurant/bar. They pretty well have you covered. We got the mini-fireplace suite. Our room overlooked the river. The hotel gave us 2 fake logs to burn in the fire place. Our room had a fridge and a microwave which is always nice. It was a nice room and the place was quiet. Now, I'll mentioned that the hotel is older and you can tell that. But it was very clean and well kept. The highlight of the weekend was the snow! They have a breakfast buffet in the morning, but not the usual fare of waffle's and such. We had grits, egss, bacon, ham, biscuits & gravy, potatoes, fruit, and oatmeal. It was all very good. The grits were wierd...probably becuase most folks around these parts don't know anything about making them. But that's okay...bless their hearts for trying. Oh, and our they gave us a free drink coupon to use at the bar. How neat is that?!

Last thing...we ate at this Chinese restaurant called Chan's. It was very good. Large portions...which was another good reason to have a fridge and microwave.

Even though our jet tub was out of order, our king room was very nice. The golf course was a wonderful challenge and extremely beautiful. We had dinner in the lounge because we were still in our golf attire, and our dinner was excellent. We will definitely go back.

We were looking to explore the area and realize it is off season for about everything. We still had lovely sunny weather in the high 40's and took a tour of a lava tube with a local guide. The hotel has an older look but significant updating is noted in the room furnishings (queen beds with footboards, high quality bedding albeit on the firm side, granite-look counter in bath).

Getting a river view room is worth it. The Deschutes river rushes by reminding you that you are someplace special.

Hotel also offers sauna, wt/fitness room (small but quite good), short trails along the river, hot breakfast usually included, indoor (seasonal) and outdoor pools and spas. Refrigerator with a separate, functional freezer plus a microwave make it easier for families. (We did not get a kitchenette room).

Our only issue with the facility was that the pool was too cold to fully enjoy and the "hot" tub was not hot. The chemicals in the pool bleached my daughter's suit also. Seems there is room for improvement in the pool management area in general as towels were in short supply and the auto lighting did not turn on smoothly with sunset.

The location is not really near the shops and restaurants we were interested in.

Nice rooms at a reasonable price. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Convenient location.
