“It's an Econo Lodge--it does the job.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2009

For $54 total, I got a clean room in a safe area with good service. Econo Lodges are known for the basics--a cheap, clean, no frills place to stay. This is what I received by giving them my business.

The room was clean, complete with refrigerator, microwave and much to my surprise--a pillowtop mattress. Liking a softer bed, I had no problem with this, but travelers with back issues requiring a more firm mattress may need to go somewhere else. I got free wireless internet with the room and there were zero problems with the connection. The room was chilly when I first got in, but it took no time for the heater to do its job. I was grateful for the heater when I first arrived, because it provided a steady non-jarring hum, which fortunately sounded out the 'thump' sound coming from the bar next door.

The service was cordial and efficient. There was a minimal continental breakfast provided, consisting of fruits, muffins, coffee, juice, etc., and a free copy of USA Today.

I would recommend this to anyone passing through Bend, as the resort town's lodging can be spendy in peak times. It's an average establishment with the potential for an excellent night's sleep.

“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2008

I got a room here for $46 so I was expecting a dump. I was pleasantly surprised as the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and everything worked fine. It was nothing fancy, but I thought it was a steal for a room with microwave, fridge, wireless and modest continental breakfast. The walls were somewhat thin, as we heard when people upstairs turned on their water. The carpet was dark green, and I wear slippers everywhere I go so I have no idea if the floor was as dirty as the other reviewer claimed, but it seemed fine to me. The snow was swept from the sidewalk in the morning and the staff were friendly. I would stay there again for sure.

  • Liked — Inexpensive, wireless internet
  • Disliked — Lobby was a little smoeky when I arrived

“Slight problem”

Wife and I arrived in Bend, Oregon on a Tuesday afternoon and went to a Best Western Motel to settle in for a few days. At the counter we were greeted ans asked what accomadations we wanted. Once decided, I went to pay cash and was told no cash is accepted on the first day only a credit card will be acceptable and the on the following morning we could then pay cash for thae time stayed. WE couldn't believe what we heard, so we left that motel and located "Cimarron Motel" that took cash without any problem, with exception for us to let them write down our credit card #, due to the fact that they have been experiencing thief of their microwave and refrigerators. So, the credit card was one way to protect them for any thief of these items. We stayed there for two nights and were pleased with the accomodations. Being a past security officer, I gave the clerk some ideas in possible ways to protect their properties other than hold onto a customers credt card #.
It is getting to be a "nice world?" we live in , huh!
