“This Place is so Cool - don't miss it! (cannot believe price either!)”

This place was a total chance find bc all the places in Bend were booked - THANK GOODNESS!!

Juniper Acres is seriously the coolest log cabin I have ever seen. And the views are spectacular! I cannot figure out why you would choose to stay in Bend, esp as it has the feel of a suburb, rather than this place where you are surrounded by beauty.. A glass of vino on the deck at sunset is a moment you will try to re-capture after you head back to the office cubicle,

The breakfast here was THE BEST BREKKIE IN AMERICA. Seriously, this is the only breakfast place I can recommend in the whole of the country. We had stewed-apple goodness for starter, some pancakes, and this amazing egg souffle - OMG it was so good!

This place has been running as a B&B for a number of years (their cheap fees are probably still stuck in the 90s) and the owners are very good operators. Better still, they are seasoned travelers with some interesting tales of their own :)

The only recommendation I have is that new bed linens and towels would be a good investment. Buying some beautiful Egyptian cotton linens would align with the rest of the ambiance and appeal of Juniper Acres.

“"Refreshing High-Desert Air"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2011

Our stay with Vern and Della Bjerk was comfortable and relaxing. Their log home is an outstanding example of Oregon's high-desert-rustic feel, and the decks are wonderful for sitting and taking in the view of the Three Sisters mountains during the evenings, while breathing distinctly juniper-scented air. Both hosts are very friendly and inviting, and the breakfast was filling and fresh.

“Wonderful stay at Juniper Acres!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2007

Our stay at Juniper Acres was like a stay at a good friend's home. Della and Vern were wonderful hosts and we enjoyed our 2 night stay with them very much. Della is a terrifc host and great cook - her breakfasts were devine! Loved the room and loved the area. But more importantly enjoyed the company. We felt it was an exceptional place to stay and hope to visit again very soon.

“Bad Experience with this place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2006

Our one night stay at this place was a mess.

First, the good news. It's a nice home and has a beautiful view of the mountains. That's the end of the good news.

We arrived in the evening and the hostess was sitting in the living room reading. (Never experienced this before at a bed and breakfast, because usually the owners try to stay sort of invisible and out of the way). She talked nonstop and we didn't feel like we wanted to hang out in the living room (the only public area in the house). Which was unfortunate because it had a nice view and with her absent, it would have been a nice place to sit and read and have a cup of tea or something.

Shortly before going to bed, she informed us that breakfast would be at 8 a.m. in the morning. (We had been looking forward to sleeping in a little later than that afte having had a very long day that day.) But, to have a later breakfast 'would interfere with her schedule that day.' There was no notice in the material we received before our stay that 8 a.m. was the only time for breakfast.

And so, she knocks on our door at 8 a.m. We have breakfast. She sat at the breakfast table with the guests and sort of dominated the conversation. (Our first experience of that after over 30 or so bed and breakfast experiences.) At the end of the breakfast, (approx 9:15 a.m. she informs us that we have to check out by 10 a.m. because she has to leave the house to attend an event. (Again, no notice of the 10 a.m. check out time in the pre-arrival literature we received.) And so, we took a shower and left.

All in all, a completely unsatisfactory experience, and a very unprofessional hostess who doesn't have a clue, to the point that we have pretty much lost interest in ever staying at a bed and breakfast place again. We would have never stayed at this place if we had known in advance what to expect.

“Forest Hideaway with Delicious Breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 March 2006

I stayed here with a friend when we went skiing at Mt. Bachelor. The mountain was a lot of fun, and Vern and Della have a great house. It's made of massive logs, varnished and well-placed. Huge view windows, with mountains in distance.

We went out for a walk on some of the many trails, weaving through small hills and juniper trees. Breakfast was enormous - don't know the fat content - and truly gourmet. I think we had omlets, orange juice, tea ... maybe crepes?? Some freshly made whipped cream, I think. Anyway - very good and memorable. Vern's a skiier and will direct you to the best runs on Mt. Bachelor.
