This is a typical Super 8, maybe a little newer so impression is a little better. It is right at a toll plaza for I 44, actually in Big Cabin, Oklahoma, though Vinita is within 10 miles.

The only really close dining option is a truck stop, but the food there was good. An entree with salad bar trip averaged $8, so quite reasonable.

We would stay again if the timing and location itself otherwise worked.

Nothing special, very basic, good room for truckers or motorcylists. Good value overall.

Room was older & bedding was ancient. Blankets were so thin they were barely there. Sheets were dingy & stained. Great air conditioner. Breakfast was barely adequate.

Everyone knows that Super 8s are cheap, $39 dollar a night rooms are hard to come by. A place families can rack out no frills on a long trip, let the kiddos eat grape popsicles while jumping on the beds, or party with 38 of your best teenage friends for a buck each.

In the Big Cabin / Vinita area they are the one hotel that welcomes pets which is why we stayed there. That, and on google maps they looked to be far far away from the trains that travel thru the area, and far far away from car theft in the Tulsa area. Indeed they are. However, the map did not indicate the whopper of a truck stop across the street. Good news though, the fan mechanism in our window a/c unit was broken and provided a hellish noise throughout the night to block out the parade of semi truck air pressure brakes.

Remarkable grime on the synthetic dated chairs sporting original upholstery. I suspect this is because the handyman who stands on them to replace the lovely florescent overhead lighting doubles as a rodeo clown and it was quite obvious that the bulls had been fed chili con carne that week.

The beds are like sleeping on a freshly pressed sheet of plywood covered with a damp-ish towel. This is fantastic for those of us who want to stay up all night to get a jump on those ‘seen on tv’ gyro ball and pajama jeans specials.

Bottom line, try to find another option. If you have pets and are on a really really tight budget, traveling thru Oklahoma and Big Cabin / Vinita is your stopover point, then go ahead and stay there. Just don’t walk around in your bare feet or in socks on the dark blue carpet. You must trust me on this. And do yourself a huge favor, skip the free breakfast. Instead drive into Vinita (5 minutes from you) and eat at Clanton’s -- the best roadhouse diner in the state, arguably the country. Call first to double check they’re open.
