“Car got broken into!”

My wife and I were traveling between NY and CA when we stopped in OKC for the night (Thurs). We prked the car right outside of our room and when we woke up the next morning the driver side rear window was bashed in. We called the police and made a report and they told us that that WHOLE AREA has escalated in break ins an crime in the area has increased as a whole. So DON'T STAY IN ANY HOTEL NEAR SOUTH MERIDIAN AVE UNLESS UR LOOKING FOR TROUBLE!!!

The hotel itself though was not that good evn though it was $52 for a night. We originally did not have a shower curtain, the detergent dispenser in the laundry room ate our money and the one of the dryers didn't even dry my load of laundry and the toilet got clogged! Overall it was a terrible experience and again NEVER STAY IN THAT AREA!!!

It is with great concern that I am responding to your recent review. My concern is with your car being broken into. Recently there have been break-ins in the area. The safety and security of our guests and their belongings is of dire importance to us. We have taken necessary precautions to prevent this. We have hired security to patrol the parking lot along with other hotels on Meridian Avenue. We are also looking to install security cameras around the building. I have been informed of some arrests of the people responsible for the break-ins at a nearby hotel. Overall Meridian Avenue has a good reputation for being a safe street. Once again, I apologize.

“Reasonable price - all the comforts!”

We stayed at the Howard Johnson in Oklahoma City, OK on Friday night, December 23. We had driven 800 miles from Minnesota on our way to visit family for Christmas and had made a reservation at this hotel ahead of time. We wanted simply a place with a comfortable bed to sleep in and a free breakfast, before leaving on Christmas Eve morning.

We got far more than we bargained for. The room was sparkling clean, non smoking and designated a "home office". It included a desk with free WIFI, a comfortable easy chair, wood table and chairs and a nice comfortable queen bed. The bed had a very comfortable pillow top mattress and the bedding, room decor, furniture, bathroom ammenities, etc were all really nice and appeared to be newly "upgraded".

Though we got this hotel for very little money, the decor and ammenities easily rivaled many more upscale hotel rooms in hotels such as Hyatts and Marriotts. The room also included a refrigerator and freezer and breakfast was not simply "continental". In addition to the standard offerings, this hotel had scrambled eggs, sausage, and gravy.

While we were eating breakfast in a very nice large, and well appointed room, the manager came in, cordially wished us a "good morning" and checked all supplies to ensure that everything was available and neat and tidy. Later when we checked out, his friendly and helpful attitude matched everything else about this hotel - just first class!!

“Clean, Comfortable, Convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

We stayed at this hotel just after Christmas on our way from NM to Chicago, on December 27, 2011. After many, many hours in the car it was such a joy to arrive at a nice, clean place. The front desk staff were kind and efficient, and the room was GREAT. Someone had posted that the rooms were outdated, but they must be updating them because ours had a new bed and headboard, new light fixtures and even a decent tv, Just a chair was slightly old, but everything else seemed modern. The bathroom was clean, sheets were soft and clean, bed was comfortable. It was a very nice room, especially for the price. The continental breakfast, while large and with variety, was not the highest quality. Typical scrambled eggs that don't look like scrambles eggs, waffle maker, white bagels, etc. But I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room was 209, faced away from the highway so very quiet and looked out over one side of the park...

“Don't stay here - car got robbed!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011 via mobile

Stayed here on our way to New Mexico for Christmas, our car was robbed during the night and all our family's Christmas presents were stolen and back window of our car smashed out! When we told the manager and attendents they responded with "it happens all the time" and then wouldn't call the police for us! This hotel has some great reviews which is why we stayed here but take my advice and STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

The room smelled and bothered my allergies. Out of date furnishings and just overall crappy appearance. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was disgusting frozen crap that was heated up.

I know hotels delete bad reviews from the internet but I hope this stays up long enough to stop some from staying here or at least remove all your stuff from your car before sleeping.

“Very warm welcome and a very professional staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

The receptionist got a room close to the reception so I would not have to walk to]the corridors. It was especially important for me since I was alone and I am female. He insisted and did help ne with my luggage. Very professional and nice! The room was clean and warm on that wintery day. Breakfast was fine. I will return to this hotel.
