There’s a big difference of opinion regarding the “quality” of this hotel, especially recently. So, I thought I’d add my review.
For what it’s worth, I travel extensively. I average 50+ days per year in hotel rooms. I stay in hotels domestically, and internationally. Hence, I believe I have a unique perspective when it comes to hotel quality. I’m a Hilton Honors Gold Member (frequent-guest program, second-highest level). I usually stay at Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn.
I chose to stay at this Clarion, instead of my routine of Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn, due to price, only. I’m also a Choice Hotels Member (Clarion’s Group), and in addition to their “frequent-guest program,” I’m a member of a “special group” that receives additional discounts (better than AAA). Hence, I got this room (Room #100, King bed, non-smoking) for about half the lowest cost of the closest Hampton Inn. In other words, my rate was about $56/night (mid-week), when Hampton was quoting me $109/night (and even more ($159) at the Hampton Inn near Bricktown). I saw a rate-quote on another website for $60/nt. for this Clarion.
So, how is this hotel? In my opinion, it’s fine, especially when you consider the bargain price. But, if you expect a hotel that is fairly new or recently renovated, you’ll probably be disappointed. Unfortunately for some, this Clarion does not compare, in quality, to Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, or Marriott Courtyard. I would rate it a 2-Star property, at best, based on a 4-Star rating system.
In short, this Clarion is “tired.” It is in dire need of room renovation, but it is NOT unclean! For example, there is some wallpaper starting to come undone in a few places, the bathroom is old, and needs to be re-caulked, but, to reiterate, it’s CLEAN!
The hotel lobby and interior of this hotel are similar, in style, to Embassy Suites. It’s quite nice! The rooms are unique because they have two entrance doors, one to the hotel interior, and an additional door leading to the exterior of the hotel.
In a previous review, there was a complaint about safety, and a comment that this hotel is in a “bad” area. I firmly disagree! I did not feel unsafe for one moment, and I can’t understand the label of “bad area.” Honestly, it doesn’t make any sense.
I used their fitness center. Like the rooms, the cardio equipment is tired, and needs to be updated, but it's fine for short-term use.
In conclusion, if you’re spending your own money, or you need to save, and you need a decent place to get some rest, I’d definitely recommend this Clarion! However, you may need to lower your standards a bit, but you’ll be rewarded with some extra cash in your pocket!
Room Tip: Consider their frequent-guest program (Choice)
