“Not new but adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

We chose this hotel (and there are MANY on Meridian in this area of town) due to the slightly lower cost and ability to cancel on the day of the reservation. It appears to be at least 25 years old, and needs a complete overhaul to become more competitive. There have been some attempts at updating of course, but the basic design could be improved. For instance, our room was divided with a sitting room and bedroom/bath area. Quite cramped in the small bathroom area for even 2 people. The a/c was drafty right on our faces, but stuffy when turned off. Funny smells though out the hotel, but our room just smelled old.
However, the free breakfast was adequate, staff was fine, and pretty quiet. My wife was concerned about the parking lot that displayed "owner assumes no risk" sign. We will spend the extra and book the Hampton next time we're here...

“Nice place to stay - we would definitely go back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

There was a lot of construction going on around OKC, but this hotel was pretty easy to find. The staff was very friendly, and even though it was her first day on the job, the girl at the front desk was great. They were very accommodating. We asked for a roll-away bed for our family of 5 is hard-pressed to fit into two beds. The room was large and very clean. The indoor pool was refreshing. The only drawback was that the breakfast was not very substantial - there was plenty of fresh fruit, but other than that it was yogurt, cereal or bagels and toast. I like to see more hot selections, personally, especially with three children. The location was pretty close to the Zoo and the Science Museum, so that was a plus. Overall a nice stay, and we would definitely return!

Room Tip: Ask for a top-floor room to avoid hearing the children from other rooms running along the hallways a...

“Not bad at all.”

We stayed in this hotel on a wednesday night, and it was just fine. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and spent lots of time in there. There is really nothing to do within walking distance, but there are restaurants around. The hotel restaurant closed a little early, so we were not able to enjoy that. Room was comfortable, great bed, but the bathroom light was out. We just moved the lamp inside there. Everyone was friendly and had a decent continental breakfast. Definitely worth the money and very well priced. The only thing missing was a microfridge, the room looked empty without it. Huge room.

“It's Safe, Comfortable, and Good Value, but Not Luxurious!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2011

There’s a big difference of opinion regarding the “quality” of this hotel, especially recently. So, I thought I’d add my review.

For what it’s worth, I travel extensively. I average 50+ days per year in hotel rooms. I stay in hotels domestically, and internationally. Hence, I believe I have a unique perspective when it comes to hotel quality. I’m a Hilton Honors Gold Member (frequent-guest program, second-highest level). I usually stay at Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn.

I chose to stay at this Clarion, instead of my routine of Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn, due to price, only. I’m also a Choice Hotels Member (Clarion’s Group), and in addition to their “frequent-guest program,” I’m a member of a “special group” that receives additional discounts (better than AAA). Hence, I got this room (Room #100, King bed, non-smoking) for about half the lowest cost of the closest Hampton Inn. In other words, my rate was about $56/night (mid-week), when Hampton was quoting me $109/night (and even more ($159) at the Hampton Inn near Bricktown). I saw a rate-quote on another website for $60/nt. for this Clarion.

So, how is this hotel? In my opinion, it’s fine, especially when you consider the bargain price. But, if you expect a hotel that is fairly new or recently renovated, you’ll probably be disappointed. Unfortunately for some, this Clarion does not compare, in quality, to Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, or Marriott Courtyard. I would rate it a 2-Star property, at best, based on a 4-Star rating system.

In short, this Clarion is “tired.” It is in dire need of room renovation, but it is NOT unclean! For example, there is some wallpaper starting to come undone in a few places, the bathroom is old, and needs to be re-caulked, but, to reiterate, it’s CLEAN!

The hotel lobby and interior of this hotel are similar, in style, to Embassy Suites. It’s quite nice! The rooms are unique because they have two entrance doors, one to the hotel interior, and an additional door leading to the exterior of the hotel.

In a previous review, there was a complaint about safety, and a comment that this hotel is in a “bad” area. I firmly disagree! I did not feel unsafe for one moment, and I can’t understand the label of “bad area.” Honestly, it doesn’t make any sense.

I used their fitness center. Like the rooms, the cardio equipment is tired, and needs to be updated, but it's fine for short-term use.

In conclusion, if you’re spending your own money, or you need to save, and you need a decent place to get some rest, I’d definitely recommend this Clarion! However, you may need to lower your standards a bit, but you’ll be rewarded with some extra cash in your pocket!

Room Tip: Consider their frequent-guest program (Choice)

“What planet are you people from?....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2011

I'm not sure who the people are that have been giving this property glowing reviews, but I am staying at it right now and can tell you that it is NASTY. There are cigarette burns in the lampshades, the carpet is soiled, there is lint and debris spilling out of the vents, the chairs cushion are so stained and dirty that I don't want to sit on them and there is a hole in the bathroom wall. Unfortuanately I purchased this room through Hotwire so am stuck here but would NEVER have chosen to stay in a place like this at ANY price.
