“Not what I expected”

When I booked this hotel, I was really expecting a lot more. The $16 million dollar renovation of 2006 is due for another. The furniture had damage on it. The bathroom and shower area made me wish I had brought my flip flops. We had our dog with us and they insisted that we had to stay on the "dog" floor. Perhaps all the rooms on that floor need work, I'm not certain. The worst thing, however, was the entire time we were there it wreaked of cigarette smoke as if someone were smoking in our room. The hotel claims to be a smoke-free property. Not sure what that was all about. We didn't spend much time in the room before going out. I thought by the time that we returned the cigarette smoke issue would reside, but it was like that the entire night and until we left the next morning. My husband and I both were congested and had sore throats and hardly slept at all. I was really looking forward to staying there as I had heard so many nice things about it. Guess my information was dated or the fact that we brought our dog we were given a different standard.

“Nice hotel for a business stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Just stayed at the Colcord for 2 nights and enjoyed my stay. They have free wi-fi, which is great if you are trying to get work done. They have a small fitness center but it was never busy when I was there, so that was enough. I found the walk to Bricktown, the Cox Center, Chesapeake Arena and downtown businesses to be no problem. I loved the spacious rooms and the very big screen LG TVs. Right now, with the restaurant closed, breakfast is free and you get omelets or eggs, great fresh fruit, and numerous pastries, bagels, and breads. The concierge lounge also provides good snacks and desserts (plus drinks) from 4 till late (10 or 11 pm). I hope the concierge lounge continues once the restaurant is open.

“Don't let the construction scare you!!!! Enjoy the beauty and history.”

My husband and I recently celebrated our 2 year anniversary with an overnight stay at this beautiful historic hotel. We live in Oklahoma City and work downtown, but never realized the history behind this hotel. The rooms are beautiful, the staff was very courteous and the overall service was all we expected based on what we had heard. One of the best features was the free shuttle service to and from any location in Bricktown - in an Escalade! Although there is a lot of construction right now, that soon will end. The hotel does not have its own restaurant right now - but it will be open soon and in the meantime, they offer their guests a free hot appetizer in the evening and a freshly made omelette or eggs of any type and fresh juices and bagels in the morning in a designated room. I would highly encourage anyone wanting to stay in a beautiful, historic hotel to try this one out - you won't be disappointed!!!!!

Room Tip: Choosing a room with a "south" view is beautiful as they have recently redone the Myriad G...

“Don't”

Here now - this didn't come close to the luxury botuqe hotel I expected based on reviews and price. Under construction, linen carts in the hall, too far from the heart of the city and brickwork. No energy or style - feels like the have given up.

“Great hotel, great location, great history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

My wife and I stayed at the Colcord Hotel on a weekend trip to Oklahoma City. While the area and the city are in the midst of construction, with a huge office tower being built next door, and the streets torn up for some underground work, the hotel itself, in the middle of all that commotion, was a great experience. The hotel was the first skyscraper in Oklahoma when it was built in about 1907. It's only 12 stories - but that was big stuff in the early part of the century. The service was great - everyone we came in contact with at the hotel had a smile and a kind word. The room was large, nicely furnished, with modern facilities. They serve a nice buffet breakfast in the morning as part of the price of the room; and they also have a happy hour in the 2nd floor lounge from 5-7:00 at night - with a nice selection of free finger food. They have a good sized business lounge with several computers and free internet access. We didn't have computers with us - I think they had free in-room Wifi. Not certain on that. Though this is a large spread-out city, many things were in walking distance - the Oklahoma City Memorial and Museum, the trendy warehouse district with nightlife, the Riverwalk, the sports arenas, the art museum, and right across the street, a lovely botanical garden. And if you still don't want to walk those several blocks, they had a free courtesy car that would give you a ride to wherever you went, and pick you back up if you called. They have a restaurant on site - but currently closed for renovations. We had a great experience there - a beautiful old gem, shined up wonderfully by current management.
