“This motel is ghetto!”

Although we booked looking for an inexpensive place, we felt Econo Lodge in Oklahoma CIty (Bricktown) was absolutely sub-standard and unacceptable.

My friend and I were getting ready for a wedding.... She took a shower and the bathtub did not drain. Not only did she have to stand in a tub full of water, but then I had to stand in her dirty water and cound only barely turn the water on because otherwise the tub would have run-over. Our sink also did not drain, so when we brushed our teeth we had to look at each other's spit floating in the sink. Eventually the tub and sink did drain, but it took a long time and made for a disgusting and annoying experience. As we were prepping for the wedding, we called the front desk to report the drainage problem. They told us we could switch rooms, but we had to leave for the wedding. They said we could switch rooms or they would send maintanance to fix the problem. We said send maintanance since having the problem fixed seemed like less of a hassle than moving all our stuff. The maintanance man arrived as we were leaving. We assumed that the problem was being fixed. The next morning when we got dressed, we had the same problems with the tub and sink not draining. Nothing was fixed. Why didn't the maintanance man and manager alert us that they could not fix the problem. When I told this to the manager, he was abrasive and aggressive. I felt like I was having to defend myself for his lousy room. First he offered a 15% discount, and then 20% after I blew up at him. That's still ridiculous. 20% off is a AAA or senior discount, not compensation for a disfunctional room.

Further, the Continental breakfast is a joke. I went at 9:30am and there was no orange juice or other juice, and only powdered creamer for the coffee. Gross! How hard would it be to get a mini-refrigerator and some damn half-and-half? Also, there were some pathetic looking little blueberry muffins and two pieces of bread in a plastic box. Yuck! The muffins looked the type that have so many preservatives that their shelf-life is a year.

On top of this, some of the gnarliest people I have seen were staying, hanging around this place. My friend and I had to run from our car into our room because we were nervous around these characters.

“Good price - Clean room - A bit noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2007

We were attending an event down at the Ford Center (near Bricktown) - so the location was not very far - which was nice.

The price was pretty good - I wanna say @ $55 for a thursday night - and that was when most other hotels were booked up - so they didn't even try to gouge (sp?) people for the event.

I didn't check us in - so its hard for me to comment on the staff or the lobby - although I spoke to them on the phone to make sure our room would be held since we would not get in until midnight. They were courteous and we got the room type we asked for.

The room seemed very clean - perhaps cleaner than what I expected for an Econo Lodge (I had a bad EL experience in Indianapolis). I'm not sure if maybe they updated the rooms maybe? Whatever - as long as the room appears to be clean - I'm usually pretty happy.

Our room, 317, was located facing Reno Avenue and near the front office. My husband complained about the voices he could hear walking by during the night - and the trucks that drove by (to the truck stop. I didn't hear anything when sleaping because I had earplugs in and I was really tired. I think the hotel might be in a U-shape or something - you might ask about being away from the road(s).

My husband was able to pickup a wireless connection - you had to wait a minute or two for it to kick in.

We only stayed one night because we had already made a reservation ahead of time for another hotel...this reservation was a last minute gig since we were coming up early.

I would not be opposed to staying here again if I was looking for a budget hotel.

“Under Construction”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 April 2006

I got a great rate on this motel and was lured in by the claim that it was newly built. Unfortunately, it still wasn't finished. There was no light to go on when I switched the light switch (the light fixture was not installed). The room smelled awful, probably from carpet glue or something like that. The promised high-speed internet was not available at all. There wasn't even an ice machine anywhere (I asked).

The staff were friendly and helpful, but limited in what they could do. Obviously they could not install a light and internet access point and ice machine in time for me to use them. So the best they could do was transfer me to another hotel, for which I was grateful.
