“Never expected a luxury inn, just a comfortable place to get away”

We wanted to get away from Denver for a few days and had heard a lot about the Habana Inn for a long time. It was better than I expected and didn't see a single cockroach. The cleaning crew was very attentive and brought us extra towels whenever we wanted. Everyone was very nice and we took the 2 dogs and had a wonderful time. We were 2 hours late leaving, because we were so relaxed and at home we didn't want to go. I am tempted to do the 10 hour drive again, at the drop of a hat. I can't wait for Spring and warmer temperatures, so I can get in the car and drive to the Habana

Room Tip: Don't settle for a bad room and don't be afraid to ask for things you may need.

“Love it for the people, not the rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

The rooms are motel quality, not that great, but my bf and I love to go there twice a year, because of the atmosphere. It is a great place to meet other gay people, and there is a dance club and country club in the hotel. The restaurant is not bad either.

The first time we went, there was a party at a room, and we had free alcohol until the morning hours. We met some nice people too.

It is a very gay friendly hotel in the summer on week ends with lots of noise and cruising when the bars close. Not for families. Mid week is a different story. Rooms are pleasant for the price with two nice pools. A good selection for some but not for everyone.

“You're getting what you pay for - it's no luxury inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2011

This once roadside motor inn has been converted to a gay bath house on steroids many years ago. At least it’s their claim they started in 1987. I can’t say what kind of property it was before then, but all indicators are it was built for a convention hotel back when huge roadside inns existed with meeting facilities. It has multi-level suites (all rented out monthly as housing) and the in-house bars were obviously once convention space. The property is huge compared to most road side inns today.

If you look around, you’ll find the ownership maintains just enough to keep the place open and operating. One entire wing of rooms on the back was closed down and full of junk for many years. Upgrading and updating are two words completely absent from their vocabulary. You’ll get the specified number of beds, in a semi-clean room, and usually everything the room is working. They have a maintenance engineer they can access if something really bad breaks down.

The place exists but for one purpose, and nobody who is looking for a good night’s sleep would go there. People travel here for entertainment, specifically, and for that purpose it does well enough. There are two huge patio areas both fitted with swimming pools.

Everything in the place gives the appearance of being run down but it still works. They don’t charge a lot, so the value you’ll get is acceptable. Two night clubs and a restaurant are housed within, and I’m very sure the dining room food poisoned me on a visit some years ago. (Skip it and go to the drive inn next door, or Denny’s which is just West of you about 1 mi on the freeway.) The upstairs rooms above the lobby are very undesirable. You can walk to virtually all of the night spots that are not within the property, with the exception of a couple which are a low cost cab ride (if you’re sensitive to being arrested for DWI.) The staff has always been friendly and accommodating, but pretty careless with their keeping your tab straight.

Caveat emptor.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building above the bars stink!

we enjoyed our stay here because, we were ourselves among out kind of family ... needless to say it was right next to all the bars and clubs for gays and lesbians. Def. loved the place and will visit back again.
