“I enjoy my stay every time.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

I come to OKC frequently and I enjoy my stay here. I have stayed at several other HIX locations but this one is just right. I had one problem several months back with parking but the adjacent hotel was under construction. This area is ideal for staying a long time as I usually am here for a week. Location is near Penn Square mall and other good places.

Has a small business center but they spared no luxury with a color printer.

“Underpowered & Under-designed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

First, let me say that I am "regular" at HIE hotels -- I find them to be generally very good for all the aspects of lodging that we seek. And as far as the room itself goes, this hotel was no exception -- in fact it was just recently renovated, and it looks sparkling new and clean. Everything in the room and hallways and lobby was prim and perfect.

However, even with all that being said, I would be hard pressed to recommend this one to a fellow traveler, for three reasons:
(1) When I walked up to the desk, they immediately told me that they were oversold for the night, and could not provide our room type per our reservation; they did however give us a handicapped room on the first floor. Such rooms are great for the handicapped, but lack some of the normal nice features in a regular room. And the rubber mat under the bottom sheet made for a hot restless night.
(2) The breakfast room is one of the smallest I have ever seen in a HIE hotel. Only seven tables -- three of which were about the size of a pizza pan. Some people had to stand around and try and eat breakfast, or sit at one of the lobby couches -- although we admittedly came at just the wrong time -- when a sports team was there in full force. It's a real challenge climbing over those gym bags to get to and from the food counter.
(3) Parking was atrocious; we had to park on the street about a half block away. Management will tell you that part of their parking lot is being used by construction stuff for a new hotel next to them. (A competitor uses your parking lot for their construction needs -- geez!) Nevertheless, even with those spots added back, their parking lot still looks rather small and insufficient to me.

So, with all that in mind, I would again say that it's a very new and attractive place, in a nice location too ........ but just "underpowered and under-designed" in some key logistical functions.

“AVOID - very poor staff and some safety concerns!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 May 2010

The staff at this hotel was very unprofessional and at times incompetent. Although they did assist me by changing my reservation (our company's travel agent booked me in the wrong hotel), they then gave me a key card for an occupied room! They did the same thing to another traveler who checked in immediately before I did. When I returned to the front desk, the staff member I spoke with basically shrugged her shoulders, said sorry, and gave me another key card.

The room was okay (recently renovated), but I found the bed very uncomfortable. A new hotel was being constructed next door, and as a result there was very limited parking during our stay. I had to park on the street every night. In a letter left in my room, the hotel manager said the parking problem would be resolved soon, but I can see it becoming a problem again when the hotel next door is finished since there will be even more guests competing for limited parking spaces.

One evening, I returned to the hotel to find it was without power. Apparently, construction crews next door had cut one of the power lines - not the hotel's fault. However, I was amazed that there was no backup power source for the building. There weren't even any emergency lights in the hallways! I had to navigate down a nearly pitch-black first floor hallway to the stairwell, which fortunately had windows that let in enough light so I could see the way up to my third-floor room. The phones didn't work either. The staff was unapologetic and seemed rather dumbfounded by the situation.

I had to check out of the hotel early in the morning. The staff member working at the front desk didn't have on a uniform, nametag, or any other identification - he looked as though he had just walked in off the street. He was listening to music on his laptop, and he seemed bothered by the fact I needed to check out.

I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in a long time; I certainly hope this hotel isn't a reflection of the brand as a whole.

“Least Personable Staff I've Experienced in Quite a While”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2010

This hotel is what you'd expect from a Holiday Inn Express, having apparently been renovated recently and in very good shape. There is construction going on next door as I write this, but that inconvenience is completely forgivable.

The staff, however, needs remedial lessons in the word "hospitality." It's not that they are incompetent, just that they are not at all nice. When I needed a 4th set of towels for the room (we have 4 people in the room, after all), they were delivered by an unsmiling housekeeper who felt the need to inform me that "these are the last towels we have." Well gee, you're a hotel, maybe you better launder some or have more stock in place.

My reservation was made using reward points, but the bill did not reflect that. When I called to ask about this before check-out, I was told that the bill was "just to show what we will charge Priority Club". I pointed out that there was no indication of this on the bill, and the response was, "Well, I suppose you can come down and get another copy if you want."

Sheesh! This place feels like it's not really part of the Holiday Inn brand (and it is owned independently) but moreover it feels like you are inconveniencing them by staying there.

“Great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2008

I looked far and wide to find a hotel that had an indoor pool that was actually heated---13 others with indoor pools were not heated--- and was assured by TJ the desk clerk on duty that it was and he went on to give me a run down on other amenities for his hotel. I booked the room online for a weekend outing with my grandson. When we arrived at the hotel I was impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the lobby/breakfast areas. Our room was the type requested in the reservation and was fresh and clean. We next went to check the pool---just as TJ had promised---comfortable temperture, sparkling clear water, clean deck and plenty of full size towels. The breakfast area was well maintained and had a good vareity of items. We had a great stay and have booked a room for another family outing next week. Would highly recommend----best IHG hotel I've stayed in in OKC
