This hotel is probably over 50 years old. The woodwork in the lobby is awesome. There used be a "supper club" in the building.
The rooms need to be updated. These are 2 room suites. I don't like to say much about breakfasts at hotels, but this one wasn't very good.
I stayed here for one week while on a business trip. I had the "do not disturb sign on the door and was interrupted by housekeeping 2 of the mornings. All-Mexican housekeeping staff and you would have thought they could read ENGLISH if they are in America. Very agravating since I was working from 9pm to 5am and didn't want to be disturbed while sleeping during the daylight hours.
I don't think I would stay here again, because there are so many other places to stay in the area that are cheaper and nicer.
The hotel is located by a really nice mall and a Wal-Mart. I don't think this is a very good area of town. I was concerned about safety at night.

I picked this hotel because HOTWIRE put it as a 3-star hotel. This ABSOLUTELY was not a 3 star hotel. Walking ino to the lobby area the MUSTY smell hit you right away. I was weary right then and there but we had just driven 12 hours and had already paid for the room.
Well I should always go by instincts. The room/suite was big I give them that. Otherwise the place was nasty, NASTY, NASTY. It was musty, dark with very very dim lights. The carpet filthy and the fixtures in the bathroom dirty. There was no feeling of clean anywhere in the room what so ever. We were so tired we had to stay there because we had 12 hours to drive the next day. We left a 6 am we couldn't take it any longer. Staff at the front desk friendly at check in, Staff for the morning shift rude. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this place to anyone.

First, the rooms at Hawthorne Suites are in fact suites, if you count a second room having no window as a true second room. I live in nyc, so this was an unusual amount of space. That was a plus.

However, the bathroom in my room had two roaches in it when I turned on the bathroom light. I live in nyc, so I'm a pro at roaches, but it's still gross. I don't have a good sense of what the price I paid should have bought me in Oklahoma City, but I'm pretty sure roach-free should have been on that list.

Roaches notwithstanding, the room was pretty clean. It was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but it smelled suspicious. There were holes in the bathroom wall from a removed fixture (a soap dispenser, maybe?), but they were neatly patched with clear packing tape. I guess the best way to explain the cleanliness here is, when you look at things they seem clean enough, but you're still pretty sure they don't wash the comforters between guests and you really don't want to touch them.

The check-in process was irritating. The clerk couldn't find my reservation when I checked in, and had locked up shop when I tried to check out early the next morning. He was also unhelpful about helping me find dinner, and although there was a wireless network (for which I had to call the clerk to get a password), it didn't actually provide internet so that was disappointing.

I'm pretty sure with a little effort and research, I could have found a better place to stay in Oklahoma City. Next time, I will do that.

Pros: The staff was nice, the room was clean and very large! Price wasn't bad. Cons: Everything is broken. Fitness room had broken equipment, pool was green, in the room- back door wouldn't open, no water in the sink, no lights working in the living room, bathroom door wouldn't close, or lock.. etc.. Housekeeping yelling and screaming and banging on doors at 8:00 on Saturday morning. Landscapers cutting grass at 7:00 Friday morning. Rough.
