Don't know what others look for in a value hotel but this one is pet friendly and convenient. While visiting family, took a gander and booked this hotel, sight unseen and had a room that had some new renovations to it and windows faced the West.
The lights worked, the shower/bath worked and the maid service was good.
It is close to NW 63d and the 74 which are busy expressways but they are close to lots of eateries and stores. Pharmacy is less than a mile away, gas stations are within two blocks and the grocery store for those last minute incidentals is just a few blocks away, too.
Sleeping accommodations were good although bed was a bit hard for my liking.
Room was far enough from vending machines and elevator traffic which I like very much.
Will definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed at La Quinta and we were very disappointed. The rooms were smoke free but still smelt like cigarettes. The carpet had stains and the rooms were small. Rooms are in serious need of an upgrade. The breakfast was horrible. The only things to choose from was waffles and cereal. We had to remind the staff to fill up the waffel batter and syrup. Our friends next door needed towels and called the staff and were told they were out of towels. We will never stay at any La Quinta again.

So, we have stayed twice b/c it's convienently located to someone we visit. This place always had the basics with a basic price. Most recent trip (11/12/11), we got upgraded to a suite (SCORE!). While we appreciated that very much, we noticed a few other things not so pleasant. It looked like they hadn't painted in a while (bathroom / door paint chipping). There were coffee stains on the front door (?) and bathroom door and toothpaste stains on the ice bucket in the bathroom (weird place for an ice bucket). It was loud w/the sound of water dripping ALL NIGHT (pipes; like you experience in apartments sometimes). Don't stay near the elevators - they were going off all night and we could hear them in our bedroom in the suite at all hours of the night.
Other than that, it's an average place. They've always been nice to us there and we might return in a pinch but since it was so noisy with the aforementioned things, it would have to be a last resort.

This is an older LQ property. It is an economy hotel and you get what you pay for. I chose this hotel and location because I was traveling with my dog and this are a pet friendly location.

My major beef here was that I received no maid service, and when I brought it to the attention of the front desk they promised to send service up wtihin the hour. Upon returning from dinner I was disappointed to se that no serivce ever occured. That said, my room was clean upon arrival, however the bathroom floor could have used a mopping. (Pet friendly hotels need extra service)

The bed was very comfortable (I had a king room), and there was room for a rollaway bed when my daughter paid a visit from OSU. The rollaway itself was older than my daughter and about as comfortable as her dorm room bed (not a good thing by the way). Nice flat screen TV and cable channels kept us entertained for the limited time we were in the room.

The free breakfast is standard economy hotel fare, however the manner in which it is presented is unappetizing. The service area is tight and feels crowded unless you are the only one at the bar.
