“Very decent rooms, good pet area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Surprised at some of the comments of other travelers. I didn't experience any of those problems, (not saying that those folks didn't have those problems, it's just that we didn't!) Thought the room was clean-I absolutely cannot tolerate smoke, we didn't smell any in our room. And I don't recall any problems with the heat-as with many hotels, the rooms are stuffy-I run the fan only. I don't believe it was cold tho. We arrived with the plans on continuing west the next day to Albuquerque, however an early winter blizzard shut down 44 west...once we realized our trip was in jeopardy, we went to the front desk and the clerk was quite helpful with a change in reservations....(at a La Quinta in Albuquerque). We choose La Quinta because of the pet policy, and the court yard area at this location was super. Lots of room, well lit-can't complain it was raining...at least it wasn't snowing.....and the breakfast...well, seriously, they are all about the same. It's not the Ritz folks. I've probably had 200 of these types of "breakfasts" in the last five years (retirement), and you know..you just need to have some imagination with the offerings. This was one of the better breakfast bars I've seen....one needs to be a little creative.
Biggest problem I'd say is the traffic on the main road out front. Once you are there, don't try to get back out during their rush hour. Very difficult, and the pouring rain didn't help! But the rain wasn't La Quinta fault!
We will be on this route again in April...I've already booked our night there, so yes, I would recommend this location.

Room Tip: We had a first floor which was good for our dog-didn't hear any noise from outside or other room...

“disappointed with stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

I usually try to stay at a La Quinta when I travel, which is frequently, as I generally have good luck with La Quinta. This one, unfortunately, did not meet my expectations. I was given a room which absolutely reeked of pot, compliments of the obnoxious loud jerks next door---the stench filtered into my room. The beds looked like they had been jumped on, the toilet was dirty. I requested a different room and was given one quickly. The 2nd room smelled and looked clean, however it was freezing cold. The thermostat took half the night to warm up the room, meanwhile I froze shivering under covers from both beds (and I have 3 dogs to help warm me), then the room got too hot- it is one of those thermostats where you can't set a certain temperature. The heat lamp in the bathroom had a timer which would turn on but not shut off- --a fire hazard. The phone in the room did not work when I called the desk to check out in the am. It was a noisy hotel. I did not enjoy my stay. Thank goodness it was only for one night- I would have found another hotel if I had planned on being in the area for more than 1 night. I would not go there again.

Room Tip: don't stay here if you want quiet and a good night's rest

“Average Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

This is an average La Quinta hotel. The rooms are dated - small and somewhat dreary. It's well past time for a renovation. The restaurant is also purely average. Breakfast is ok but pretty typical for this type of hotel and price range. If you need an inexpensive place to sleep not too far from the airport, then this hotel is an option in a reasonable location. If you're going to be here for a while, then there are much better places to stay.

“Pay a few more bucks and stay elsewhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

I should have read more reviews on this place. When I was first checked in I had asked for a non-smoking room. The room smelled like a smoke locker. They moved me to a different one which had a stained bed spread, yuck. Both ice machines were broken and I had to walk all the way to the office to get it. I tried to call the office but the phones were not working. The heater was blowing cold air and the temperature was already 48. You cant adjust the heater, it's either on or off. So I was either cooking or freezing. The tv channels did not match the programs running so you have to flick through the channels to find something to watch. I don't know what else to say. Bad decision. I guess it pays to read the reviews folks. Should have stayed across the street.

Room Tip: Go somehwere else

“gross- bugs & stains!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I would not recommend this hotel. The room was rather disgusting with what looked like baby roaches crawling around everywhere. There was a large stain on the bed skirt (yuck!). I wouldn't touch the bathroom or shower. Upon check out we mentioned the bugs to the front desk person but there was no attempt to make it right. Was definitely not worth the $70 we paid.
