Surprised at some of the comments of other travelers. I didn't experience any of those problems, (not saying that those folks didn't have those problems, it's just that we didn't!) Thought the room was clean-I absolutely cannot tolerate smoke, we didn't smell any in our room. And I don't recall any problems with the heat-as with many hotels, the rooms are stuffy-I run the fan only. I don't believe it was cold tho. We arrived with the plans on continuing west the next day to Albuquerque, however an early winter blizzard shut down 44 west...once we realized our trip was in jeopardy, we went to the front desk and the clerk was quite helpful with a change in reservations....(at a La Quinta in Albuquerque). We choose La Quinta because of the pet policy, and the court yard area at this location was super. Lots of room, well lit-can't complain it was raining...at least it wasn't snowing.....and the breakfast...well, seriously, they are all about the same. It's not the Ritz folks. I've probably had 200 of these types of "breakfasts" in the last five years (retirement), and you know..you just need to have some imagination with the offerings. This was one of the better breakfast bars I've seen....one needs to be a little creative.
Biggest problem I'd say is the traffic on the main road out front. Once you are there, don't try to get back out during their rush hour. Very difficult, and the pouring rain didn't help! But the rain wasn't La Quinta fault!
We will be on this route again in April...I've already booked our night there, so yes, I would recommend this location.
