“Watch out for nonchangeable reservations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

My husband made an advance reservation online, then found out his group had a group rate. I called back and spent more than half an hour on the phone with several different people in different departments to try to get the group discount, only to be told that they could not issue us the cheaper group rate because our payment had already been processed. The people on the phone were polite but apparently unable to do anything to help us. I was not impressed with their customer service.

To our guests from Texas,

We appreciate the time that you took to share your experience with us. I understand your frustration in attempting to reverse a reservation that was required to be purchased in advance.

The advance purchase rates are generally always lower than regular published rates. These are sold through third party sites such as Expedia, Priceline, Orbitz, etc. as well as the Embassy Hotels' website with the understanding that the buyer accepts the terms and conditions in order to take advantage of the lower rate offered and are considered non-refundable.

I understand in your comments, there was a lower group rate available and I do apologize for the inconveniences that this caused you.

Please know that you do value your business and hope to be of service in the future.

Please do not hesitate to call if we may be of assistance.

Kind Regards,

“Loved our stay with you!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We LOVE Hilton properties and are Gold HH members. We have attended many events at the beautiful Embassy Suites of Norman but had never stayed until now. Chris, the office manager was a most friendly, cooperative, and kind person we could have hoped to meet at the front desk. She radiated charm, enthusiasm and a can-do attitude. She took care of our every need and when we expressed our desire for a room with a view of the airport, she made it happen. During our 8-day stay, her reception of us was always the same - hospitable, cheery, and genuinely caring. She referred to us by name and answered all our questions. WE want to also mention Z - she was very helpful when we had some room issues. Now, we have to brag on one of the best reasons to stay here ... the breakfast staff that serves the GREAT all you can eat breakfast! Vault greeted us by formal name every morning, which we loved! He walked us to our tables and took great care of our dining experience. Sam and Brandii are the best cooks -- so speedy and accurate! And, we must brag about Glenda, Jack, Mary, and Freddie - a true multi-generational crew! They were all so professional, courteous, and attentive to our needs. It was obvious that they like, respect and help one another as well. It was a delightful breakfast experience each and every day! Special thanks to the GM for the upkeep of the facility and high standards for staff!

Room Tip: We loved our airport view and OU stadium on the 7th floor east side. All the rooms are great!

“Outstanding newer hotel with outstanding breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We stayed at the hotel while attending a wedding. The hotel is quite new and fresh. Although valet parking is available, the free parking is close to the doors. The front desk help was there waiting on us and checked us in quickly. Our special request, made in advance due to mobility problems was known to the front desk help and was honored with no hitch.
Don't miss the evening managers' hour where drinks are free in the atrium. The drinks we had were well prepared and they did not skimp on the liquor. Along with the drinks were complementary chips, cheeses, and other snacks that were quite good.
Our room was the usual roomy and comfortable embassy two room suite -near the elevator, as requested in advance. The rooms have excellent bedding and the fixtures are basically new. The room was clean and well stocked with towels etc. The air conditioning and heating controls were easy to use and kept the room just right.
The television is a bit confusing - but it you just change the channels using the remote, it goes into fee local TV mode with plenty of free channels. Movies and other pay per view items were also available.
Our friends' evening wedding was at the hotel and it was well handled by the hotel caterers and staff.
As we prepared to turn in for the night, there was a large crowd of kids sharing a room nearby. They were loud and in the halls. We dreaded what we thought was going to be a noisy night. But it did not turn out that way at all. I think the staff is paying attention to previous comments about noise because we had a very quite and comfortable night.
Now the best part. This is not your usual hotel breakfast. Omelets cooked to order, every breakfast food you could want from biscuits and gravy to fresh fruit, to pastries and more. Fresh coffee, juice - everything you would find in a much more expensive hotel - for a much higher cost.
We paid for our room in advance, risking the winter weater travel concerns - and got a great rate.
Congratulations to the staff for his outstanding hotel and service. This is the place to stay in Norman. We shall return
Oh yes, tonight I called back to the hotel because I failed to give them my Hilton number. Wasted call, they had looked it up and applied it even though I forgot to give it to them at checkin.

Room Tip: Unless mobility impaired, choose a room on a higher floor, and away from the elevator to reduce the...

“Not the best, but pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

We spent four nights at the Embassy Suites in Norman. It is usually priced significantly more than the Hilton Garden Inn, but the prices were so close this trip that we opted for the Embassy Suites.
They must train their employees and evaluate based on friendliness. The staff always spoke with us when given an opportunity. They really made us feel welcome at their hotel. The suite is really nice with its two room configuration with a wet bar, giving an additional sink that is outside the bathroom. It was almost clean. We we checked in, there was one of those paper lids they put on the glasses under the bathroom vanity. It was still there when we checked out. The manager should check room 817 and see if it is still there.
The managers reception was a nice touch, but there is only one white wine, chardonnay. (Or "white" zin, but that is not really a white wine.) And the food is carrots, celery, cheese and crackers and once chips with dip. Not exciting but adequate. The addition of one hot appetizer would have been nice.
Breakfast on three of the four days was really outstanding! The made to order omelets, fresh fruit, bacon, sausage, and potatoes was a spectacular was to start the day. But the first day we did not go to breakfast until 9 AM. There was a huge long line for the omelets with only one chef cooking them. There were no breakfast meats on the buffet. The fruit was scarce and what was there was soggy. There were only a couple of tablespoons of scrambled eggs, but lots of gravy to go on the 6 biscuits on the buffet. There were 4 pastries in the cabinet (not 4 kinds, 4 cold rolls). There was only skim milk in the mild frig. Luckily, I scraped the bottom of the barrel and got enough oatmeal to make a meal and left the eggs for my husband. Then there were no tables. Every table was full. Way too many people, very few employees, and very little food. We watched the omelet line. When we left after 30 minutes, the woman we were in line behind briefly had still not reached the front of the line. After that we scampered down to breakfast every day at 7 AM. It was another world: we were kindly greeted; there was no line for omelets; there were breakfast meats on the buffet; the fruit was fresh and plentiful. There was plenty of seating. Staff would take our trays and our beverages to a table and set them up. Plates were cleared as we finished them. A very different experience. SO either the staff all called in sick on 12/27 or one needs to eat eary before the breakfast is gone.

Housekeeping service was excellent until the last day. Then were were shorted two towels and left with no Kleenex. The hair conditioner and lotion were replaced, but no shampoo. And the coffee supplies we had used were not replaced, even the cups! A bad day for that housekeeper apparently.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at the Embassy Suites. Like others I find that the extra charge for WIFI in the room is irritating, but the extravagent breakfast makes up for it. I also used the gym each day and found it generally pleasant. By the 3rd day, I learned how to turn down the obnoxious music that is blaring so loud it can still be heard over the Cardio Theater TV on the cardio machines (and that is with earphones in), THe other irritant in the gym is the baskets with a sign that says "New Earphones". There are two of them. They were empty each of the four days I was there. I don't expect the gym to provide earphones; and they don't. So ditch the baskets!

I know this review sounds critical, but the EMbassy Suites comes so close to being so good. I would love to see it become all it could be. We would readily stay here again with no reservations. Just eat breakfast early!

To our guests from Estes Park, CO,

Thank you for taking the time to provide a very thorough overview of your visit. Your feedback is most welcomed and appreciated.

I was glad to see that your overall experience went well, especially with regards to your staff member encounters throughout.

Our goal is to continue to focus on process improvements and your feedback will allow us to review a couple of areas in particular.

Please accept my sincere apologies regarding the one day when you had a not so pleasant breakfast experience. I know specifically of the circumstances and can assure you that this is not the typical experience. We did experience a much greater flow of guests than anticipated on that particular morning and made the necessary adjustments to allow for a much more pleasurable experience the following day. Our expectations are that your breakfast experience should always be excellent throughout the hours of serving and we will ensure that processes are fine tuned to prevent anything less than excellent for our future guests.

I also appreciated your feedback on the fitness center headsets. We provide disposable ear buds for our guests and we will ensure this is reviewed and corrected immediately.

Again, thank you for your input. I know that every member of our team will value your comments and also appreciate your kind comments on friendliness.

We hope to be of service when your travels return you to the Norman/Oklahoma City vacinitiy. Please do not hesitate to call on us if we may be of assistance.

Kind Regards,
