“Great B&B experience”

We stayed at the Cutting Garden over an OU football weekend and had a great time. Connie, our host, was very accomodating even though we arrived very late the first night and had to leave very early at the end of our trip.

We stayed in the first floor room which was ideal, as a former college mate and I shared the room. The first floor room has a door to the hall that leads to the room, so it feels very private. Our room had a VERY comfy queen bed, nice big windows, a large closet, ironing board, chest of drawers, tv, remote bedside tables and and a great ceiling fan. The bathroom isn't in the bedroom, but just as in a home, it's in the hall. Since that entire hallway though is closed off to the rest of the house it is your own private bath. This worked out great because we didn't wake each other when we used the bathroom. Our bathroom had a long vanity and a tub.shower combination. It is not a brand new house but it was in good shape and everything felt very homey.

The B&B is non smoking which was nice, though there is a big garden and backyard, which I assume would be available to smokers. Just outside our wing of the downstairs is the living room with a TV, dining table and fridge. Connie even told let us store our leftovers in her fridge which was great. She also made a few batches of cookies, which we devoured! Every morning we were offered great breakfasts--she'd ask us the night before for our preferences and we served great made to order breakfasts. We had everything we needed.

It was a little rainy over the weekend and our main reason for the trip was to revisit the campus, so we didn't get out to the garden, though it looked great! We did peek at the upstairs rooms before any guests checked into those rooms. There's an upstairs room that connects to the balcony and has a private hot tub, then the 2nd upstairs bedroom has a jetted tub in the bathroom (both have bathrooms in the bedrooms).

Connie was very helpful and was not intrusive at all. We really enjoyed our stay and never felt as strangers, which is so much nicer than how you feel in most hotels. I've stayed at many B&Bs and this was definitely on of my favorites! As an added bonus, it was an easy 2 or 3 block walk to campus, so we barely drove our car, unless we were going out to dinner.

  • Liked — Proximity to campus, our host Connie and the bed--very comfy. And the breakfasts. Oh, and the cookies.
  • Disliked — Since it's just off Boyd street, it can be hard to back out into traffic, so we always tried to remember to back into the driveway so that we could pull out easily.
