“Absolutely horrid, extreme disrepair, tried to double bill”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We reserved two rooms through Orbitz but the hotel staff tried to charge us again. We had to call Orbitz 3 times for help before they finally gave us our rooms. In addition to the hotel website, they're currently advertising in free hotel coupon booklets and state the hotel is newly renovated, restaurant and lounge adjacent to hotel, all rooms have curved shower rods, down pillows, etc. Don't believe any of it and don't believe any of the "traveler" pictures posted. This hotel is a nightmare.

The carpet in our room was extremely soiled, largest stain about 10 inches in diameter. The door frame was broken. Large gap around door and grimy hand prints. Microwave had big dent on the side which caused the top to bubble up. Bathroom door frame didn't have a striker plate. Bath exhaust fan screeched loudly whenever the light was turned on. Bathtub didn't drain - we stood in ankle deep water as we showered. Washcloths badly stained. Shower rod was not curved, looked more like an old pipe. Bed sheets were dingy and threadbare. Bed pillows were very old and disgusting - not the advertised down pillows. None of the furniture matched and anything upholstered was extremely grungy and/or stained. The bed was so disgusting we actually slept in our clothes.

The 2nd room was even worse. It included a flyswatter though. Phone was missing its cord.

The hotel is located in an industrial area. Back side of the hotel poorly lighted. The free "Hot" breakfast in the lobby looked like it was toast or bagels. We didn't dare eat anything there. The restaurant/lounge next door was boarded up and covered with graffiti.

“Worst hotel experience ever”

First off, whoever took the "professional" photos of that are posted for this hotel is really good at staging because the hotel rooms look nothing like what is shown. Old furnishings are the norm. Hard mattress. Stains on towels, tub wouldn't drain and the biggest one... the rate on the sign is wrong! They advertise $39 but that is only for certain people if you stay for the week. When I told the owner that I was staying for the week, he still wouldn't let have it. I asked him if he would prefer that I stay somewhere else, HE SAID YES! So I left and I'm very happy at the motel 6 across town for $31 per night (weekly rate) in a much nicer room and friendly staff. Not only is this hotel run down, there is no breakfast bar that you see pictured, let alone breakfast. You can get coffee and that's about it. Would absolutely not recommend this hotel at all!

Room Tip: I don't recommend this hotel at all. There are rooms at other hotels in the area for the same p...

“fly infested”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

When we got to our room it was full of flies, asked for a wake up call, but soon realized that we would not be getting one since the phone was in several pieces. The key we were given was a regular key and the door was unlocked when we entered the room. There wasn't any electrical outlet near the sink to use a dryer/curling iron. All the pictures were hung crooked, mirrors were dirty, none of the furniture matched or had missing door handles. The girl that checked us in took cell phone calls and had friened waiting for her in the lobby. Breakfast wasn't much in the morning with no seating except stuffed chairs in the small lobby.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

“Keep on Truckin'”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

The first thing we noticed when we got to our room was the stench of old, cheap cigars. However, we got the last available room, and it was a smoking room - so I can give that a pass.

The second thing we noticed is that there was neither a wall nor a surface in the entire room that was plumb or level. the middle of the room is sinking down in a shallow bowl shape, and everything in the room slopes inwards. In addition, the entire room is leaning; every surface I checked was a minimum of 2 degrees off level. Light bouncing on your toes shakes furniture a few feet away. We slept in the bed we felt was least likely to plummet through the floor to the room below.

Other features:

Burn holes in the sheets.
Disgusting grimy and matted carpet.
One of the three electrical outlets experienced a fire sometime in its past.
The bathroom wall looks like someone puked on it and no one ever bothered to clean it up.
The kitchenette does not appear to have been cleaned in some time.
The bathroom sink is missing the hot water knob.
An extra bed frame leaning in the corner (maybe in case one collapses?).
The door's security chain is missing.

Neither of us dared go barefoot. I slept in my clothes, and using the shower was out of the question.

The good things about our room:

The mattress seemed comfortable. Unfortunately, the rest of the room kept us from decent sleep.
The Air Conditioner works well.

Unfortunately, now that I've read reviews, it appears that all of Elk City's accommodations suffer from the same poor quality and disrepair. If you can help it, skip Elk City altogether and find better accommodations further on down the road.

“Cheap but you'll regret it”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We were first given a room that was dirty with melted carpet. The bathroom had stains up and down the wall and the toilet didn't work. We complained and were given another room that was newly renovated but had a hole in the sink. It was late so we stayed the night. There are many other options nearby so I suggest that you go for one of those
