The Maverick Inn was originally a Days Inn. According to a conversation I had with the front desk clerk (one of the owners), the motel had opted to go independent rather than stay with the Days Inn name. I would describe this hotel as very basic. The motel had exterior hallways and an outdoor pool that was closed and covered with a tarp. The pool furniture was covered in dust and dirt, and clearly was no longer being used. There was a gated fence around the pool, which likely had a lock on it. There were your standard vending machines outside in the hallway. Inside, there was a bar and restaurant that appeared to no longer be open. I was helping some other guests try to find the ice machine, which turned out to be inside the restaurant. On the floor in front of the bar, there was a large stain that honestly looked like a blood stain. I do not know how else to describe it. If the motel was mine, I really would have at least found a rug to cover it up. Seeing that as I was trying to help the other guests find the ice machine gave me a sort of uneasy feeling. The floor in this area was also dirty. Inside the rooms, the appearance was neat and tidy when we walked in. The beds had pillows with light green pillowcases propped against the headboards and the bedspreads looked pretty with the light green. But looks can be deceiving. The beds were like something out of a National Lampoon family vacation movie. The mattresses were lopsided on both beds. We both slept feeling as if we would roll off the bed and woke up with horrible back aches. The soap and shampoo were both the type you will find in the Days Inn. Apparently they had leftovers from before the transfer to independent.
This was the cheapest hotel in town, but I had expected more, even with the low rate. I will say if you do not mind an uncomfortable bed and you just need a cheap place to stay, this one is for you. The location was right off the interstate in this rural Oklahoma town. I personally will pay the $20-30 more to stay at the Holiday Inn across the street should I need a place to stay in this area in the future.
