“One of the Best Motel 6's that We have Ever Stayed In”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

This recently redone Motel 6 certainly exceeded our expectations. The helpful front desk clerk found us a room away from the I-80 traffic. Lots of orange in the rooms from the curtains to the bedspreads, but the whole effect works. Nice location for the TV, but missed not having any kleenex. This was a pleasant surprise since some other franchise motels in the Youngstown The advertising "brand new rooms" was definitely truth in advertising. Be sure to bring an ethernet cable if you want to connect to the Internet as the wifi is not real reliable.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room that does not face I-80.

We stayed there the weekend of Oct. 14th, the room was far better than what we expected! It was very quiet, clean and the staff was very pleasant! When we visit our family in Sharon, we're going to stay here again!

“A large but sparse room, with somewhat uncomfortable beds”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

This used to be a Ramada Inn, so the rooms are much larger than normal for a Motel 6. However the layout was not very good, as the current owners stripped out most of the old furniture, and there is very little area left on which to place luggage. Also, the beds were just barely OK.

We did not have a room facing the turnpike, so the noise level was not too bad, but be sure to ask for one that does not face that road.

Room Tip: Definately ask for a room that does NOT face the turnpike. The noise is terrible.

“Great night's sleep, dark shower”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We chose to sat at the Motel 6 Youngstown, Ohio last night after finding the Grove City hotels were all booked. We went there based on recent Tripadvisor reviews. The hotel room is sparse and austere but in my opinion- it makes it easier to clean for the staff. The room we stayed in had a king size bed(made with fitted sheet and 3 pillows), a small luggage rack, a small table with a chair and a upholstered bench, a flat screen TV that had it's "accessory jacks" available for dvd players or whatever, a second set of shelves that would hold duffel bags. The floor is faux bamboo-zero carpeting. The bathroom area was clean and the towels were decent.
The bed was very comfortable, the sheets stayed in place-very important to me! Many channels on the TV to watch.
Things were good until my husband woke up early and decided ti take a shower. His first issue was that the hot/cold directions were missed labeled on the shower faucet-starting out with a relatively cold shower. Once he figured that out, the steam from the shower shorted out the whole room's electricity- so he ended up showering in the dark. He was not too happy about that! He had to go outside, there are outdoor corridors, and go to the lobby to get the circuit flipped- not a happy hubby. He even asked at check-out if we could get some money off of the bill- but was told no- they do not discount for any reason- Not Cool!

Pros:
*very clean, freshly painted
*comfortable bed, with fitted bottom sheet
*new air-conditoner/heater unit
*great TV with many channels

Cons:
*no alarm clock
*no cute little shampoos/conditioners-bring your own!
*no tissues-which I thought was really weird!
*No carpeting-which I didn't mind when we stayed-but if it had been cold, raining, or snowing would probably create some issues!

For $65 - not a bad deal, but it obviously would not be for everyone.

“Ok for the price, but wouldn't return if given the choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Stayed here for 1 night in June while passing through. Yes, it's remodeled, but VERY sparse. I reserved a handicapped room since I was with my elderly mom who uses a walker or cane. Two hard chairs to sit in, a small table along the wall right under the tv. To watch the tv, I moved one of the chairs across the room between the beds so Mom could sit there. Not very comfortable. No other furniture, so our suitcases were on the floor, and we worked from there. I got whatever my mom needed because that's too low for her to reach. I'm guessing the non-carpeted floors are easier to clean now...wish ours was. I took a few steps barefoot and immediately put my socks and shoes back on. I opened the curtains and found an empty drink container left on the sill from a nearby take-out place. From the last guest or the staff? The bathroom was very spacious, kind of a no-man's land between shower all the way over to the sink and toilet. I assume that's for wheelchair access which is great, but there's no bar or anything for the non-chairbound person to grab on to for support if needed. One more thing, it's close to a highway. We heard every vehicle that hit the rumble strips. A quiet night it wasn't. We were heading east at the time and would be returning though again in a few days. Mom (who usually goes with the flow) asked if we had to stay here again on our way back. We didn't.
