We stayed here in May 2005 during the American Le Mans weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (Lexington, OH). The Days Inn & the Holiday Inn Express were the closest decent hotels we could find with rooms still available. Having stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last year, we had seen the Days Inn and thought it looked pretty nice, so we decided to give it a try this year. (Plus, the room rate was about $20/night cheaper than the Holiday Inn Express!)
Boy, did we miss the amenities of the Holiday Inn Express! Our room at the Days Inn was decently-sized, but the bathroom and bed sheets were of questionable cleanliness. On a positive note, our room did have a mini kitchen, although we didn't use it. But our room was on the second floor and there was no elevator - we had to carry our luggage through a back warehouse-style hall and up the concrete stairs. A complimentary breakfast was provided in the morning, but it was the most pitiful we had ever seen - they didn't even have milk to drink. Our food choices consisted of muffins, danishes, cereal bars, and bread for toasting. At the Holiday Inn Express, they provide several more options, such as assorted cereals, hard-boiled eggs, and yogurt - and milk to put on your cereal or to drink! As a milk drinker, my husband was very disappointed with the Days Inn breakfast.
We had to wait in line to check-in and check-out of the Days Inn, even though we had booked and paid for our room online. The Holiday Inn Express has a much more streamlined and time-saving process, especially if you've already paid online - you just leave your signed invoice in your room, along with your keys, when you leave in the morning.
So while we did save $20 by staying at the Days Inn, we plan on staying at the Holiday Inn Express if we go back to Sunbury again!
