I have to disagree with the reviewers that commented that this HI Express was anything like the typical standard for this chain. Most HI expresses are clean and uniform as most locations are frequently updated and maintained. The location on Dunbury wasn't the worst hotel I've ever stayed in or anything, but did not measure up to what I expect from a Holday Inn Express.

In my room, the airconditioning was iffy at best, the towels were mis-matched in their shade of off-white, and the smell (as mentioned by another reviewer) was that of a former smoking room or something.

I was only there for one night, so I can't really comment on the staff or anything.

This location featured a wrap around parking lot that could accomodate an RV or large trailer (if not full) and was within walking distance to fast food and a Starbucks.

If I was in the area again, I'd probably book something one exit closer to Columbus in the Polaris area.

We stayed here one night on our way to pick up a boat in Delaware.

Pros: The location was great for us--right off 71 and down the road from the boat place. Gas stations, Starbucks, and restaurants nearby. Meijer (like Super Target) down the street. Our room was larger than I expected and the cinnamon rolls at breakfast were yummy. The woman who was working during the breakfast service and doing laundry was very friendly and appeared to be a hard worker. The hotel was very quiet despite being at capacity.

Cons: Our room (221) smelled like smoke despite being non-smoking. It seemed like they were aware of the problem and were trying to air it out...strong smell of chemicals and the a/c was on full blast resulting in a freezing room. In their defense, we did not tell them about it or ask for another room because we were exhausted and knew the hotel was full. When the a/c was on, it made loud clicking sounds. The juice at breakfast was watery. The front desk staff working when we arrived at night were not especially friendly. They did recommend a good family-run pizza place though. The problem with that is that the pizza guy said he had to wait downstairs (in lobby) for 10 minutes before someone helped him. I bet the pizza would have been ever better hot! The pillows weren't very good, but there were a lot of them. We paid about $122 for our room which seems totally outrageous to us; that was the AAA rate. When our bill was slipped under the door, it did not identify the credit card we used--a problem because we asked to use a different card when we arrived than the one we used to reserve the room and we couldn't tell which one was actually billed. (They looked it up and they did use the one we requested)

All I can say is WOW WOW WOW!
I was a bit disturbed after reading the former reviews (fortunately I read them after my check-in), but I'm sure quite the change has taken place. It's hard to! This is by far the most fresh updated, cleanest HI Express I've seen. And what a value compared to what you'll pay staying closer to downtown Columbus!

This hotel met the usual Holiday Inn Express standard... very clean, nice bedding, nice shower, excellent breakfast. But it had some quirks that management needs to address. The parking lot was half filled with pods holding furniture from their remodeling (we were told the pods would be removed the following week). The pool temperature was posted at 74 degrees because it needed maintenance. The USA Today was not delivered one weekday during our stay. Our sheets were not changed daily as we requested (we were there five nights), and when we mentioned it to desk personnel, the maid left us a rude note stating "policy" was to change sheets every third day. A sign in the room said they would be changed daily unless we left the hang tag on the door! We would stay again if all parking was available, the pool was working properly and other issues were addressed.
