I am a platinum member with Marriott and have never experienced such poor customer service. I booked a King whirlpool room 5 day prior to arrival and had a confirmation indicating the reservation. Upon arrival I was placed in an accessible room. I immediately went downstair and informed the front desk and did not request nor desire to be in an accessible room. I was informed they did not have any other whirlpool rooms available...as they were sold out for the evening. I informed the front desk I would take any other room they have available (regardless of the whirlpool....I did not want to be in an accessible room). I was told there were no other room of any type available. As I was standing at the front desk, 4 other people checked into the hotel, thus there were other rooms empty and available. I inquired again if there were any empty rooms and was informed that there were no empty rooms. I called the Platinum Marriott desk and relayed the situation to the customer service representative who stated he would have the GM give me a call. The GM did call and informed me his staff was following corporate direction. They could not give me a different room type if it was different that what I observe. He stated he had been with Marriott fo 10 years and this was what they were instructed to do. He was not trying to resolve the situation...only trying to prove he was correct. I informed him that the conversation was not leading to a resolution and I was going to end the conversation. I never once receceived an apology or any type of resolution from the GM. In addition to the accessible room...it is next to the highway and the noise is horrendous. They have a sign in the room indicating they are aware of the terrible noise from the traffice (see attached photo).I will never stay at this hotel again and would recommend other Platinum, Gold and Silver members to stay away as well. I will inform all of my staff, my associates within our company and our corporate travel to ban this hotel from our list of approved hotels. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Nice, large, clean rooms. Front desk staff and the dining room staff for breakfast are terrific. We've stayed here twice and been very happy both times. The beds are comfortable, but a little hard after 2 or 3 nights. Would definitely stay here again!

I stayed at the Courtyard Akron Stow for a night in December 2011. The property is comfortable and well-serviced. Check-in was very quick, and the rooms were very comfortable, with the excellent comfortable Marriott beds. My only gripe was that the air conditioning / fan unit in the room was old and very noisy, which disturbed my sleep; likewise, the fan unit in the bathroom was exceptionally noisy. The hotel has a pool and exercise facilities, but I did not try these during my stay. Breakfast was good - nothing exceptional, but no complaints either, and the breakfast staff was friendly. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay.

This is one of my favorite hotels because i stay in it the most! Our headquarters are in Akron, so this is a great place to stay. The staff is great, especially Jay the Bartender. I had to give an update even though I've reviewed this hotel before. This last stay, I received a phone call from the front desk at 6:30AM asking if I had left my cell phone in the reception area the night before. While it wasn't mine, it was my colleague's phone, and was returned to him. I was impressed with the way they proactively tried to find the owner rather than waiting for someone to ask for it. Well done!
