We spent a week at this hotel. There was much to like about it, but overall I felt there were too many problems.
On the positive side, the room was a good size (27' x 13') and comfortably furnished (we had a "deluxe king" room). There was a good firm bed with 3 pillows, reclining chair, nice LCD TV, and dresser drawers. The kitchen had a full-size fridge, 2-burner stove, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, silverware, pots & pans. There was also an ironing board and iron. But there was no separate desk for working.
We requested a quiet room, and indeed it was quiet. It was a corner room with sheltered entrance and facing away from I-275. However, about half the rooms face directly over I-275 about 100' away, and I expect those must be more noisey.
The location is nice -- in a semi-residential area, and about 1/4 mile off the main road. Theres a number of restaurants and shops about 1/2 mile away.
The price for a weekly stay was significantly less than most of the nearby hotels.
But there were various issues:
Required excessing personal information: At check-in they requested to see our drivers license, and then recorded most of the information from it (we paid by credit card). I thought this was unusual (first time this happened to us) so I contacted ESA corporate customer service. They informed us that ESA does not collect this information, nor should their hotels be collecting it. So I was rather puzzled -- perhaps it is a local hotel policy (in violation of corporate policy) or perhaps something suspicious going on. On another occassion I returned to the office and there was a sign on the desk "Back in 10 minutes" with lots of the patron's personal information sitting out in the open. Not good.
Police activity: One night there were many police cars in the parking lot with lights going. This did not give me a good feeling about the hotel.
No towels: During our stay we turned in the towels for replacement. The front desk lady took our used towels to the back room, and then returned and explained there were no more clean towels available. She said they might have some clean ones in 20 minutes, but I did not have time to wait. When I did return, the office had closed for the day. In the end we had no towels for 24 hours.
Black mold: While the room was generally clean and well-maintained, there was a patch about 8" x 4" of black mold growing above the shower head. A big minus. See photo.
Internet: At checkin were we not told we needed to pay for the internet service, so we wasted time trying to make it work. Later after paying $5 internet fee at the office, we found it did not work on 3 of 5 days. Apparently there was a problem with the central server which was not fixed until after the 3-day holiday weekend. Even when it worked, the WIFI signal strength was poor and the connection was slow.
While I wanted to like this hotel for the location and pricing, there were too many negatives, and I will probably stay elsewhere next time.
