My family has stayed in this hotel several times over the past few years while visiting family in the area, each time a pleasant stay. I have left one previous post stating such. However, this visit was not up to their usual standards. We checked in for a two-day stay, but decided the next afternoon to leave early for family reasons. I was told when inquiring about checking out in the afternoon that there might be a charge, possibly $50 to $75, because housekeeping had already left for the day and the room could not be rented out that night. I understand the policy and accepted the potential consequences. However, the charge turned out to be $100, considerably more than the "possible" $50 or $75. When we checked into our room there was a wet towel hanging on the towel rack. The only thing I got was an "I'm sorry. I'll let housekeeping know".
Along with that was the disappoiinting breakfast available. We arrived about 45 minutes prior to it's closing for the day, only to find some of the hot items had already been removed, and those that were still there (eggs, sausage) were no warmer than room temperature. Our usual "Good morning" greeting with a smile was non-existent, one of those little things that make a difference.
It appears that a lukewarm breakfast, a dirty towel and lackluster service are now the order of the day at the Homewood Suites. With two other hotels in the immediate area, I think we'll try another for our next visit. Maybe they'll try harder.
