“Basic Budget Motel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2008

The Econolodge is a very basic budget motel that is well past its prime.

Good points – The location is excellent close to Tri-County Mall with lots of restaurants nearby. You can walk to a McDonald’s and everything from IHOP, Burger King, Subway and Wendy’s are all within a mile. TV was very good with lots of channels and the internet access was excellent. The bed was OK, but a little soft. My checkin was very fast. He gave me a first floor room facing the highway, and even though they added a glass wall to block the noise, I still thought it was too noisy, so he happily switched me to a second floor room facing west which was much quieter. The elevator was nice and smooth, parking was plentiful. The room had a large refrigerator and small microwave.
The bad – The bathroom smelled like mold and I had to keep the door shut. I finally figured out the ventilation fan only re-circulates the air; it does not vent the moist bathroom air, which allows mold to flourish. There was little counter space around the sink. The breakfast was minimal, cereal, bread and little donuts. I usually walked to McDonald’s, I need more food than that the motel offered. The hotel is old and well worn though they have repainted the public areas. There is no pool. The lobby holds no more than 5 people. Note that there is no parking on the highway side (East side); it literally abuts I-75.

If you are looking for a basic, cheap motel to just spend the night, this is the place.

  • Liked — Location was great, TV and internet were great
  • Disliked — Mold in bathroom, very run down

“A budget inn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2008

This Choice Hotel Econo Lodge is an old converted motel. It is located next to everything including the Sharonville municipal building across the street. The hotel was clean and the elevator worked well. There was a computer with free internet access in the lobby. However, the lobby area was very small. One of the smallest areas that I have seen for a check-in/welcome area.
As for the rooms, the electrical outlets were located along the base board of the walls! The bed frame was bolted to this base board/ floor area. The mattresses slept comfortably, but the appearance of the mattress and box springs were questionably. The bathroom walls, shower surround, and floor of the tub had been sloppily painted. The paint on the floor of the tub was peeling off. Otherwise, you get what you pay for!

“Awful”

We stayed at this hotel a year and a half ago. Like the other reviewer, I got a really good deal ($20-$30) and was excited about it. We were in town visiting family and I was embarrassed when my cousin dropped us off at this hotel. Little did I know that the outside was the best part of the hotel. I haven't stayed in such a pit since I was a newleywed staying in roach motels. The paint was coming off the walls. The heater was rusted. The carpet was in horrible shape. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The list goes on and on. We didn't even eat the free breakfast, it wasn't worth it and we were afraid to.

“Ragged linens, Dirty floors”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2003

At $29.99 + tax for a king sized bed, 2 persons, we thought we'd found a bargain. but I guess you get what you pay for. Good things: the mattress was comfortable, the toilet flushed, there was hot water, and the TV worked. But there were holes in the sheets, the towels were thin & fraying, there was mold in basket holding the soap packaged, also in a number of grout joints, the floor was just plain dirty, although not as bad as behind the night stand where I looked to see if the non-functioning electric clock was plugged in. The upholstered chairs were dirty, the legs of furniture were covered in dust, the pillows should have been retired 10 years ago, and blanket was too dark to judge its cleanliness by sight, but I was suspicious. lavatory & tub grubby with age, cigarette burns, etc. We don't appear to have caught any diseases or anything, but the lack of cleanliness was off-putting.
