“Not a bad place but not great either”

I mean what do you really expect for under $80 a night? It's quite clean and a place to sleep. It's very close to cedar point which we visited for two days. If you need a place to just sleep and shower before heading out to cedar point, it will do. I would suggest going over to eat at the thirsty pony (right across the street). Great food with great prices. The breakfast was pretty standard for a free continental but there was always plenty of food.

“Ok stay, just ok for a 2 star hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2011

I booked this hotel based on it's decent 4.2 / 5.0 rating on Expedia, which made it the highest rated 2 star hotel in the Cedar Point area at the time. Normally I try to avoid motels (so my expectations may be higher than yours), but there seems to be a lack of good hotels close by to Cedar Point and I was only staying one night and wanted to be close to the park.

At first glance the room seemed decent enough, but I found it musty (clears up with the air con), and the carpet was dirty (walk in barefeet on the carpet to the washroom and back and your soles will be gray). The pillows were ok, but the fleece 2nd layer blanket was in rough shape like it had been washed 1000 times (hopefully it was washing).

There seems to only be motels like this in the area which don't appear any better, but my advice would be to stay a little further away from Cedar Point on Milan Road where there appears to be better hotels. This place wasn't that cheap and I regret not spending a little extra for a much cleaner room.

“Great Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

Just got back from Cedar Point and had a great time. The 5 of us stayed at the Econolodge and loved everything about it. First of all, Georgio was the best. He sat and talked with us by the pool, recommended a great Italian restauant and even cooked us waffles for breakfast- truly a great guy and host. Cant wait to try his own pasta sauce that we bought from the hotel lobby. The location is great-couple minutes to the park and many great restaurants and shopping. The pool was clean and felt great at the end of the day. One complaint was the cot we had in our room smelled of cigarette smoke. When we asked for another one, it smelled as well.

Room Tip: take advantage of the comp. breakfast and see georgio if you have any questions or needs.

“We'll look elsewhere next time we come to Cedar Point”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

I was very pleased with the price of this hotel compared to other hotels near the Cedar Point park, and I was looking forward to writing a good review. I'm not opposed to having my family stay in a simple, straightforward hotel in order to take advantage of a great value. After all, you spend most of the time on vacation seeing and enjoying the surrounding area--the hotel is not the main thing. So I love to find a great value. I was still thinking the same thing after we promptly and courteously given a new room (despite the hotel being very busy) after our initial room was right next to a group of young people with a large quantity of beer who were clearly going to have a rowdy night. I was still thinking the same thing when we walked in and saw a very simple, dated-looking room. But my opinion really started to shift when I was sitting in bed with my daughter and I smelled what was clearly a sweaty-man smell in the bed. It was a really bad smell. Luckily the other bed did not smell bad, so we slept there. The bathroom was not clean--there was hair in the bathtub. Very gross. We could not use the bathtub. The decision to not take a shower was confirmed by then finding that at least half the towels were actually dirty. There was also sweaty-man smell in one of the two chairs in the room. Needless to say, we were pretty grossed out by this hotel. We'll definitely look elsewhere for our next trip. But one good thing about the hotel--no sign of bedbugs. Have to give them credit for something positive.

“We will stay here again! You can throw a rock at Cedar Point. Okay, maybe not really, but it's dang close!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

The hotel is a cheaper hotel so we didn't expect it to be in perfect condition with a lot of fancy things about. We knew going in there would be older fixtures, carpet, paint, whatever. However, nothing in the room was in disrepair. Yes it was older, but no, it was not bad at all. Nothing was broken, nothing was dirty, nothing stunk and so on. The staff were very helpful. I would like to have had a coffee pot and possibly a refrigerator for my 5 million dollar dinner leftovers out at Cedar Point Park, but we managed. I got my coffee at the breakfast buffet where the manager was set on making everyone's waffles. Some complain about this, but I think it's great. We stayed at two other hotels on the way that also had waffle makers where children were allowed to use them and needless to say, they were in rough condition. The Econolodge waffle maker was spotless. I did manage to make my own waffle one morning and the manager was disappointed that I had to do that but he did not yell at me as one review suggested nor did I ever hear him yell at anyone. As a matter of fact, he interacted very pleasantly with everyone in the room. He kept that area very clean. Again, if you are looking for just a comfortable night's stay that's cheaper than all the rest and that's it, this IS the place for YOU. If you are looking for a Hilton, go find one because this isn't it.
