My family ages 15,13,11 and 8 with two adults stayed at the Howard Johnson Express Inn for 4 nights while visiting Cedar Point Park. The Hotel sits directly across from the access road to Cedar Point. Its a 10 minute drive from Milan Rd which has Target, Super Walmart and Ryans (a great Buffet). The hotel room was clean, the doughnuts served for breakfast were fresh but it was first come first serve and thats pretty much all that was available. At the rate I paid I didn't expect top quality service or sleeping quality. But it worked for the 4 nights we were there. The convience to the park made it worth while. Also the pool is as big as a jacuzzi and shouldn't be considered a pool at all, I beleive its only 3ft deep and probably the length of a full size vehicle. I would stay again for the price and convienence and knowing not to expect much more. In previous comments guest talked about the noise from the train, I recall only hearing it once and it was around 9am - the train wouldn't deter me from coming. Guest Service was nasty and very inattentive but I refused to let her and her personal call ruin my trip. If you request a roll away bed, it probably wont be available, I went to walmart and purchased a twin air mattress for $15 and made it work.

When planning a trip to the Roller Coaster Capital, Cedar Point, I had friends who stayed at The Howard Johnson a couple weeks before my trip who recommended it. I was able to get a great rate about $67 since it was a midweek stay. Knowing that the majority of my time would be spent at Cedar Point, location and price were my motivating factor. The location couldn't be any better. It is literally across the street from the Amusement Park's entrance. About a 5 minute drive up their parkway.

The rooms were small and ordinary. The upkeep on them were average. The room was moderately clean and well situated. The amenities offered were plentiful, including 5 bottles of shampoo and 4 sets of towels. There were no extra pillows in the room, which was the only thing it was lacking. Also the first night there, I noticed the AC was very weak. I am an AC person, so I had trouble sleeping. It stayed on throughout the stay and still never really cooled the room. When I mentioned to my friend who stayed in the room next door previously, he said his AC worked extremely well.

The hotel offered a continental breakfast in lobby area. Not a large selection, but enough to satisfy me with juice, coffee and a doughnut.

My best experience at this property was the staff. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The first morning for breakfast, I asked for a Do Not Disturb sign because I couldn't find mine. The breakfast attended told me where I would find it and gave me an extra one in case I didn't have it. Then after going back to the room, I realized I left my sunglasses on the lobby table. As I walked into the lobby again, the same breakfast attended saw me out of the corner of her eye, and reached for the glasses behind the front desk before I even asked. As a hotel manager, I can recognize great service!

Overall, it is a run of the mill average property. If you are staying here, Cedar Point is your main attraction and that is where you will be spending most your time. If you are looking to save some money on your trip this is a great option. If you are looking for something above average, this would not be your property.

When we arrived at this hotel my family was excited to be close to Cedar Point for the fourth of july weekend. Too bad the only positive thing about the hotel was the location. When we arrived the staff was rude and highly unprofessional. The room we stayed in was dirty, smelled awful, and overpriced. Around 2am my daughter found a 'bed bug' under her sheets. She awoke my husband and I and as we peeled back our blankets we realized there was an infestation. We found multiple 'bed bugs' that we of all different ages. We immediately contacted the staff and they treated us like trash. It was like pulling teeth to get a refund and we left the hotel that night. I will never ever stay at this hotel ever again.

We booked a room for 4 nights. After reading reviews, I was a little nervous about the stay. I told my family it would be an adventure. We got to the hotel and I was very happy with the room. It was one of there suites which I would recommend for more than 2. We had 5. The kids were thrilled to have their own beds. The room was clean. It's an older hotel and the rooms did show the age, but it was easy to overlook. Each day our room was cleaned and supplies replenished. The staff was friendly ,& awesome at meeting our needs. Don't let the surrounding area scare you off we had no problems.
