Travelled to Cedar Point and Hotel Breakers last August from London, UK. We've always seen it on the internet but as it's not the easiest route, never considered it an option. After years of wondering, we eventually took the plunge and planned a trip there before flying down to Orlando. Honestly, we wish we had stayed longer!
It was already clear from the website and pics online that Hotel Breakers was the most convenient to the park and location was important to us. The fact that it opens onto the "beach" and the Lake is a bonus and of course it has a restaurant, bakery and ice cream store. The welcome was good (and the receptionist was so excited to hear a British accent...maybe not so many of us travel there!). We opted for a room in the main section of the hotel and first impressions were "it looks like it did on the internet, but bigger". It was old fashioned and in need of an up date, no doubt about it, BUT it does what it says on the tin. We had a view of Millenium Force which was good to wake up to. The room was spacious and there was plenty of storage space. The bathroom was fine, if not a bit grubby looking. All in all, as expected, with air con (much needed in August) and not at all disappointed. I don't understand people on here who are expecting something luxurious and then feel annoyed. Do your homework people! This is about location, convenience and good family fun!
The reception area is spacious and close by is the bakery/restaurant which are fine for a quick snack. TGI's is a stroll away and the service and food were both excellent. The pool areas are clean and perfectly positioned back from the "beach". Views are great, whether looking across the lake or back to the park.
And of course, most importantly for us, an hour of experiencing the park before the public (ie those not staying on site) was great. Cedar Point is up there with my favourite parks in the world. Such variety for everyone and 5 minutes from the hotel. I promised I wouldn't join the stampede of people running to Maverick when the rope dropped and let us into the park, but damn, I ran as fast as my legs and asthma would let me!!! Ha! The food in the park is not great, it's not cheap, it's not very good for you, but who cares! A day at Cedar Point and I think you must burn more calories than you intake!
So, we loved the whole experience so much, we are coming back this August (Hotel Breakers already booked!) and spending 4 days instead of 2 this time.
Hope this was helpful and I hope you enjoy as much as we did! If it's worth the journey from London, it must be worth it from anywhere in the US.
Enjoy!
Room Tip: Depends whether you want a pool room, a lakeview (these cost more of course), to be in the main sect...
