This quiet, romantic B&B is a short 50 minute drive from Columbus, but you quickly enter a different world where life goes at a slower pace. Glenlaurel feels like your own private getaway, deep in the woods, where you are pampered and surrounded by understated luxury and elegance. Our recent two-night stay provided a much-needed respite from "regular life," and though expensive, was well worth the money.
Our croft accommodations were spacious, sparkling clean, quiet, comfortable and elegant, with a gas fireplace, a kitchenette, overstuffed sofa, and easy chair, a separate bedroom with queen bed and very comfortable linens, nice bath with a two-person shower, not to mention a private deck and outdoor hot tub. Free Wifi is available. We opted for an in-room hot stone massage which was expertly administered by a polite masseuse in the privacy of our own cottage.
Best of all, however, were our meals. We have dined in many fine restaurants, and the food here is right up there with the best. On Saturday night we were called to dinner by the charming sound of distant Scottish bagpipes. Our multi-course dinner included assorted cheeses, a seared shrimp appetizer, duck confit in baked phylo, fantastic mushroom bisque, frenched lamb chops with potatoes and asparagus, creme brulee with fresh berries, -- all of it superb. . Everything was perfectly prepared, perfectly done, beautifully presented, absolutely delicious, and professionally served in intimate candlelit surroundings, leaving us charmed and delighted. The attention to detail was extraordinary. Chef Erik and his staff sould be proud of what they accomplish here. Remember that you also bring your own wine here, which the staff are happy to uncork and serve at no extra charge, which actually makes the dining experience quite affordable and a very good value considering the excellent quality. Be sure to inquire about the dinner menu in advance and bring your own selection of wine(s) to accompany your food. Breakfasts (which are served until 11 a.m.and included in the room rate) are equally delicious.
Our only suggestions: upgrade the ancient television sets (which they bring to your room on request to play movie DVDS at a nominal extra charge). Why not install unobtrusive flat screens in the bedrooms, and ditch the queen-size beds in favor of kings. Other than that, please don't change a thing! Expensive but worth it!

We really appreciate your positive review and are so glad you had an exceptional experience during your stay. We take great pride in the service, as well as the quality of food, that we extend to our guests. We feel privileged to have such a wonderful and talented staff.
We will be upgrading the TVs in the units this year to flat screen TV’s so the next time you visit, we hope you are able to enjoy this new feature. Since your visit, we now have our liquor license and have a fantastic selection of wine, beer and scotch, all of which complement the fine dining experience, as well as the social atmosphere at pub time.
