We stayed here for 7 days in Feb 2011 and rented 2 adjoining rooms. We relocated to the Cleveland area and the hotel was appealing to us because we have 5 rambunctious boys and the former Holidome with games, pools, mini golf, and climbing tower was going to be great in the dead of winter after long days of house hunting, address changes, etc... plus the price was good $80 a night but no free breakfast was advertised. Well, the place was a mess. We changed rooms 2 times because the showers didn't drain, the rooms were really dated (old carpet, mildewy bathrooms, old tvs) and the play area is HUGE but disgusting. The pool and hot tub had visble dirt on the bottoms, the games took our money (we did get it back from the desk), and I gave my little kids a shower after each play in the tunnels.
This place could be so nice and a great place even for local families to stay because there are ski resorts close by. Just small things would make a difference like the tables and chairs in the atrium are all different styles and colors and look tacky, replacing the carpeting, painting the walls, and giving the place a good scrub down to get all the nooks and crannies especially in the atruim and the bathrooms. The builiding is not in disrepair it is simply neglected.
I give kudos to the staff because they were really really nice and they made our stay tolerable. We ended up getting coupons for free breakfast in the restaurant when we checked in. The meals were large portions for our troop of boys and again the wait staff was friendly.
This place hosts a lot of conferences there seemed to be a different one everyday and quite a few trucks would stop for the night. We didn't see many families and had the place to ourselves most of the time.
Room Tip: If you have kids you can get rooms that walk out into the atrium which is convienent. if you get on...
