I "scored" this hotel on Hotwire and after reading all the horrible reviews online, I almost decided to eat the money and just find something else... I found out Hotwire has dropped its 1-star classification, so a lot of its 2 star hotels are actually lowly 1-star properties. I'd put the Days Inn at 1.75 - The two worst things are NO free breakfast - they DO have coffee makers, microwaves and refrigerators in the rooms, but usually, a Days INn at least offers stale danishes... Also, the reception person explained to me that by the letter of Hotwire's descriptions, because they're within 12 miles from the airport, they're able to claim they're an "airport" hotel - But they're quite a few exits away - and I was confused... It was frustrating to drive from downtown and go way PAST the airport to get to them. That said, the whole trip from downtown Columbus took about 18 minutes... but you pass SO many nicer hotels, it's a little frustrating drive that far for a bargain hotel. The good news is, while everything was old, the room was spotless, the heater worked and the shower was pretty good. The free wifi was rock-solid. I also found the staff very friendly and while it IS walking distance to a strip club, you can also walk to tons of restaurants, an ATM and a few other bars and it's right off i-70East. So as long as you're prepared for an old property, you won't be disappointed - I was there on perhaps the biggeest conventoin weekend of the year and ended up paying about $70 a night with taxes - about $40 cheaper than the next option... so for saving that much money, it was worth it for me - don't be scared off by all the really terrible reviews The "fitness center" was one rickety treadmill and exercise bike - pretty lame. They DO have a bar and restaurant but I didn't see the need to try them when there were real restaurants in walking distance. .
