Stayed at Super 8 Port Clinton for 2 nights last weekend. This hotel is a great value! We were with a group of 13 people traveling for the Sandusky Boat show, with a side trip on Saturday via JetExpress to Put-In-Bay. I heard no complaints from our group about the hotel accommodations at all. Only compliments. The checkin went smooth. The staff was more than accommodating and very friendly! Even though my husband and I don't usually sleep in separate beds we went with the 2 double beds room for our best value. The room was very clean! The beds were very comfy as well. We had a good nights sleep both nights. The only complaint and it's not the hotels fault was that people leaving early in the a.m. should be more considerate of the other guests still sleeping when leaving their room and slamming their door! They offer the continental breakfast that includes one of our favorites, Belgian waffles. The breakfast area was kept very neat and clean and everything served was fresh! Once again, the staff kept everything clean and stocked for the breakfast. Overall, this was a great stay and I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel will work OK as a value hotel. Good continental breakfast. Decent location. Cheerful front desk worker. Bed sheets were small and sometimes came off at the corners. Room floor could have been cleaned better. Bathroom fixtures were showing age. WiFi was consistent only in the lobby. This is a seasonal hotel but is said to be open in October 2011 due to 1500 workers coming in to the area for update work at the near power plant. We stayed 5 nights in mid August 2011. Would go back again.

One of many examples would be,
. This trip was planned as a vacation while my son was home on leave. His transport was delayed and not only would they not change our room for the next evening, but that we would be charged the full rate for the night we missed. That was just the beginning of very rude and abrupt service we received during our stay.

Unfortunately we booked for three nights. Mold smell in room was terrible. There was visible mold in the bathroom, but the smell was everywhere - bathroom, carpet in the room itself, and esp. from the A/C unit. Window opened but had no screen or security device (1st floor), and July nights were steamy and sticky; otherwise, we might have made do without the air conditioning. Complained about the mold the first morning. That evening the bathroom was cleaned up a bit; the A/C smell was improved slightly if at all. Place was somewhat run down, but location was convenient to L. Erie attractions, breakfast was "OK", and (non-weekend) rates were cheap, but the mold smell more than wiped out any advantages.
