I recently stayed 3 nights at this Marriott property because there was nothing else within 15 miles of the location for my business trip. And, I am a Marriott Rewards platinum point monger. However, if I ever have to come to this area again (hope not), this location of the Marriott RI chain will never see my plastic again. At one time, I had mistakely thought that the Marriott corporation had some sort of minimum standards that all locations, owned or franchised, must meet. For this location, the business traveler like myself must assume that the recession (alien invasion of Youngstown?) has caused some type of creepy exception. This hotel is the smallest, most ill-kept, worn-out, marginally staffed, and generally uncomfortable cardboard box of a Marriott hotel in which I have stayed in over 25 years of business travel. It has got to be one of the oldest looking Residence Inns I have yet encountered. It must have missed the last 2 interior makovers that most of the rest of the chain locations have completed. Carpeting in the common areas is just revolting. The "breakfast area" is so small, I felt like I had to drink my coffee and read the paper outside, just so someone else could have table space to eat. If you like a yoghurt in the morning, forget it here. Not happening. Munchie events in the evening? Good luck with that. Need help at the front desk? good luck with that too. I must have passed by the front desk at least 6 or 7 times over 3 days and never saw a soul on duty. Overall, the room itself is small, by RI standards, and needs new furniture, carpeting, and so on.When leaving my room, I discovered by accident that I literally had to pull the door with both hands (I weigh 170 pounds) to get it to lock shut. It looked like it was completely closed until you pushed on it and found that it was not really locked. Now that's creepy. Business Center. Yeah, that consists of a very small computer station right in the open corner of the breakfast area. Unbelievable. There are 5 other hotels in sight around this one. If you have to stay in this area, pick any one of them. It would have to be better than this embarrassment.
