My brother, who lives in Mt. Vernon, booked the room for us in advance. We stayed 2 nights & our experience was nice. Yes, it was slightly annoying that I could barely understand the gentleman who checked us in, but I can live with that. The room was clean & had all of the ammenities that we needed. I know that it isn't the Holiday Inn, but it was pleasant & priced right. We will be visiting my brothers & sister there from time to time & we will definately be staying at the Super 8.

Our experience has been horrible. We arrived and checking into our room which was already reserved took 45 minutes. The lobby which we had to wait in with our small children was 85 degrees. After waiting far too long, the first room we were given did not have functioning air conditioning. We demanded a new room which we were given bit the air in this room was off, it has been 2 hours and is now late at night and the temperature is still not comfortable. Also, the main lights in the room do not work, there were not enough towels or washcloths for us, the tub drain does not stay closed, the sink does not drain, the tub has mildew in it. To top it all off, after searching around when we finally got room keys, we were informed that there is no elevator so we had to haul everything up the stairs which is a lot of stuff when traveling with small children. The one worker at the front desk was clearly overwhelmed and when we asked if we could just cancel our reservation and go somewhere else she told us no and that our best option would be dispute the transaction with our credit card company. We definitely will do that because the room and service we have received is NOT what was advertised to us and is NOT acceptable. This hotel needs more staff and needs some maintenance badly. We will never stay here again!

Hotel was the cheapest in the area and the only one with available rooms due to a swim meet and rainbow girls induction. Would have rather stayed somewhere else. Before we arrived a teammate of my daughters texted that she had fleas in her room and had to be moved. Checked when we got there and did not see any so decided to stay. No bites the first night but the second night both my daughter and I ended up with bites. Hoping fleas and not bedbugs. Hotel hallway smells like stale smoke and cat urine but room did not smell. Staff was friendly and helpful. Light was changed immediately when brought to attention. Hotel could use a little tender loving care. Would not stay there again due to bug bites.

First, our door didn't lock and we were supposed to get a new room. That didn't happen. Then, when I got into an arguement with the "receptionist" and then asked for her manager's name and a number to reach him at, not only would she not give me that information but then she turned around and called the police stating I threw a pen at her. Funny how the pen was still in my hand when she started to call the cops. I don't know about the rest of the staff but the chick with light hair (of course she wouldn't give me her name either) is H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E! I have family that lives in Mt Vernon so I will be visiting often and unless that woman is fired or I receive an apology, I will continue to take my business else where.
