We've been camping here for about 15 years - started taking my kids when they were babies. We started out in tents "below the dam" and now we're in a pop-up camper. This is a very family oriented campground..it's really like stepping back in time - when you drive into the area - the little lake is surrounded by hundreds of trees, there's a big slide that goes into the lake, the kids can paddle boat and canoe, fish, there's usually a band at the shelter house on weekends - there's a little store with a few arcade games out front. It's so relaxing - we absolutely love camping there. My kids are 16 and 13 now and we try to get out there a couple of times every summer, but the older they get the harder it gets! We are heading out this weekend though and are looking forward to some family time together at Dogwood Valley. The sites are close together but you don't feel like you're right on top of the next camper - it's safe for the kids to roam around. The restrooms are in shelter houses - the showers can get a little tiresome..you have to keep pushing or holding down the faucet nob...but who cares about showers when you're camping right!!!
