When we were looking for places to stay along the route of our cross-country roadtrip, we asked for a room at this Super 8 in Millbury, Ohio. We gave a credit card for a one night stay. Later that day, a horrible thunder/lightning storm with extreme weather conditions made for unsafe travel, which would not allow us to reach our destination and make it to our room at this motel. When we called to cancel our reservation and explain that we could not make it due to very dangerous travel conditions, tthe rude, curt front desk clerk snappily remarked, “I can’t help you, we don’t do that.” He then hung up in the middle of my next question. We found another place to stay and called the next day to talk to a supervisor at the Super 8 in Ohio. She repeated that they do not allow refunds, and made no effort to offer alternatives. Good customer service is the willingness to help a customer and find options that may bend policy but works for both parties. This Super 8 would not do this. They did not inform us of the 6pm no-refund policy, and just took our money without giving us any options in return. They know nothing about good customer service and do not wish to achieve customer satisfaction. A place that cannot accommodate a customer's needs is not a place to stay- and this place did not care that we were disappointed nor that we made efforts to alert them of our not arriving. Disappointed is an understatement, and I would not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place with good customer service or business ethics.
