We stayed at this property for 5 nights while visiting the Cleveland Clinic. I had some initial concerns about its distance from the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus, but those concerns quickly proved to be minor. The drive to the Cleveland Clinic was approximately 25 minutes around 8:00 in the morning, using major traffic arteries, with only two turns.
The property itself was well-maintained and the grounds were very nice. Our room, a king bed one bedroom suite, was spacious and clean. Because we had a kitchen, we were able to prepare our own meals for two nights.
The other three nights, we ate the "light dinner" that the hotel served around the pool in the evenings. One night, they even provided a disk jockey. The food wasn't haute' cuisine, but it was very tasty. One night the owner of the hotel grilled hamburgers and chicken breasts on portable grills. The next night was Mexican night, with food being brought in from one of the local restaurants. The last night was pizza night, and the pizzas (again, from a local restaurant), were plentiful and tasty. Put those main courses together with the provided salad bar, and you had three good meals. It's difficult for me to believe that the hotel can provide excellent breakfasts, along with a light dinner three nights a week and still keep their prices as low as they are.
We felt that our room was an excellent value, even without the breakfasts and dinners. The staff was friendly and seemed to go out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one. One of the desk personnel even sent a 15 page FAX for me at no charge.
The next time we're in the Cleveland area, we'll definitely stay at the Staybridge Suites. I am so happy we decided to stay in Mayfield Heights, rather than downtown.
