“Better during the week.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I stay here for business, weeks at a time. Desk service is always really great.

Breakfast is consistent and very good. Wifi is free, but very slow. Parking is free.

No service on weekends...it gets old. No vacuuming during a 2 week stay. During the week, it's hit and miss. Towels are always replaced, the bed is always made. More dishwashing detergent? You're probably headed downstairs to get it yourself. Coffee replacement? 50/50.

I love that the washers and dryers are free and that detergent is inexpensive. They do well to accommodate long term guests, but I wish they had weekend service and that they routinely replaced all the items that are used.

I HATE that they do not have luggage stands. I'd like them to keep a few at the front desk for those of us who would really love to use one.

,

Room Tip: north side, away from the elevator.

Thank you for your response. Please know that if you would like to have housekeeping service on the weekends it can be requested by letting the front desk staff know prior to 5 PM on a Friday. We apologize for any inconsistency in the service you received and have worked with our employees to ensure they are being consistent with replenishing the amenities. This should no longer be an issue.

“Terrible Housekeeping. Dirty Property”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012
1
person found this review helpful

I had a terrible stay at the Staybridge Suites this trip. We have been staying at this property a couple of times a year for the past year or two. Things are steadily going downhill. We arrived on Thursday evening and when we entered the suite we noticed that housekeeping hadn't done a very good job with the room. There was a lot of debris on the floor and dust everywhere. When we got into bed we noticed that the sheets seemed a little gritty. We decided to wait until the next day and ask to have the sheets changed.

We left the room a little before noon on Friday and returned late that evening. When we got in the room we were unhappy to find that the room hadn't been serviced at all! No changed sheets, no clean towels, no dusting. I went down to the front desk and complained. The clerk said that housekeeping had recorded (incorrectly) that the room had been cleaned. The clerk offered me $10 off our room rate that night and said if I requested housekeeping to clean the room on Saturday that they would do so. I formally requested my room to be cleaned.

Saturday around 10:30 a.m. housekeeping called to ask if we wanted the room cleaned and saying they were on a tight schedule so if we wanted the room cleaned we had to let them in. I was a little perturbed but we left the room to facilitate the cleaning. We left a note requesting that the gritty sheets be changed. We returned over an hour later and guess what...the room hadn't been cleaned. So whatever urgency they felt obviously was false. We left again and went to lunch. Around 1:00 we saw that housekeeping had been to the room but the sheets had not been changed. We called housekeeping and were told that they did not usually change sheets on the weekend so didn't have sheets on the cart but that someone would be by later in the afternoon to take care of that. We left again to see a movie. About three hours later we returned and found a pile of sheets on the bed and a note saying they were on a strict timetable and they could not change our sheets with the implication that I should just change my own sheets. Other than the trash being removed, the room obviously had not been cleaned. There was still thick dust and the floor hadn't been vacuumed. The bed did have the comforter pulled up to the top of the bed but the blanket and sheets hadn't been righted. Obviously they spent just enough time to dump off the sheets.

I went back to the front desk and was told that I could (again) request to have the room serviced on Sunday and they SHOULD be able to get to it. There was no manager there that I could speak to and I was told I needed to contact general manager David McAllister about the ongoing problems on Monday. I was reassured he would be there Monday.

Sunday the sheets were finally changed and we had fresh towels but there was still thick dust on the furniture. The dust was so thick I could write my name and leave other dust graffiti.

On Monday I went to the front desk and asked to speak to Mr. McAllister but was told he was not in that day. All in all I had asked to speak to a manager at least three times over a four day period and I was told each time that there was no one there to speak to and the front desk people could not help.

We had suggested the Staybridge Suites to relatives who also stayed during this time period and they reported housekeeping problems including being checked into a room that had not been vacuumed. It was embarrassing.

I think the problems I had were ridiculous for the amount of money I was paying every night and the level of service the hotel advertises they provide. There seems to be a distinct lack of customer service training on the part of both housekeeping and the front desk clerks. There also seems to be a problem with the basic level of housekeeping done at the hotel. I bet the dust graffiti I left is still there.

Thank you for choosing the Staybridge Suites Maumee. We sincerely apologize for the issues you had during your stay. There was an obvious lack of communication between members of our staff. The request was made to have the sheets changed and the suite attendant should have changed the sheets.

“A late, short stop...wish we could have stayed longer.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We pre-booked this property on-line as we planned a long family car trip heading South on I75. Firstly, I will say that we got great value for this clean, "newish" hotel that is adjacent to what looked like to be a new mall (2007?) "The Shops at Fallen Timbers." After a long drive in from across the border, we were met by a very friendly receptionist even though it was quite late. Our room was ready as per our on-line booking and we were in our room in a matter of minutes. The 'curb appeal' of the front lobby, breakfast area and business centre was excellent. As we were travelling with children, we booked a 2-double bed suite and found the beds to be covered in good, clean linens and comfortable. The kitchenette was well appointed, even though we had little time to use the stove or refrigerator. We did use two wine glasses which needed just a little polishing up. The towels were plenty and in good condition. We were on the 3rd floor and it was quiet. Overall, the finishings of the room were in good shape, likely due to the relative age of the property. My only negatives would be that the cable reception on the two TVs was average to poor (some channels were fuzzy and distorted, sadly this included the children's channel), we found a jube-jube that was left on the floor beside the pull-out couch that was missed by the cleaning staff, and the bathroom area very congested and small (powder room is outside the 2 pc bathroom).

We left so early in the morning that we could not take advantage of the pool or complimentary breakfast; however, the friendly young woman at check-out was very kind to open up the juice bar to my children to get a glass of orange juice before we departed. Check-out went very smooth.

My wife only wished that we could have slept-in a little longer and had the opportunity to spend some time in the large shopping mall directly across from the hotel. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Book a suite if you would like a little more room to stretch out, especially after shopping after a...

“Awesome Property!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

While this hotel isn't in Toledo, it was well worth the drive! We were a bit leary when we were driving in as the area is mostly trees, but we were pleasantly surprised when we pulled up. There's a mall just across the parking lot with plenty of shops and eateries. Our check-in was seamless and Ashley (the desk agent) was so friendly. We stayed at this Staybridge Suite for 2 nights. The room and common areas of the hotel were all very clean. I would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Opt to stay on the 4th floor, less noise from other guests.
