We just spend a weekend at the Victorian Bed & Breakfast and had booked the fall romance package get away. Yes, Ann is friendly and accomodating. The breakfasts are filling. However, ...
The rooms are romantic if you like painted particle board and an unfinished bathroom door that does not lie flush at the top. Also, the door to the rest of the house, while curtained and not able to be seen through, had a tall window in the middle, like an exterior door. It opened to the end of the large gathering room. We also were disappointed with the "included dinner." We were given a gift certificate and dinner was included in the package as long as we stayed within the constraints of the gift certificate. Dinner was at a nicer restaurant, which is what we wanted since we were celebrating our anniversary. However, once you order an appetizer (which we shared), entrees and desert, it's very easy to exceed the $50. I would have preferred a limited menu or a preselected offering that the b&b was willing to pay.
We are not wine drinkers, so Ann provided a bottle of sparkling grape juice. It was delicious. But, when you realize it came from Aldi, it just does something to the ambiance.
The house is centrally located but sits right on a 4-lane road. It also gave us pause when we saw a for sale sign out front. Also, if you have pet allergies, this is not the place for you. We saw a large dog, and one evening, when I left the room for a warm drink I left the door open a crack. My husband, who hates cats, was reading in bed and was startled and dismayed when one came in and jumped up on him.
We thought the romance package was overpriced. We have no intention of returning.
