I was traveling from NY to IN with my grandmother, and we needed a place to stay overnight. I like to find a place along the drive, and this is where we ended up.

The room was your basic hotel room, I have no complaints about that. It was clean and comfortable, the pillows were very soft. I liked the security, the only entrances were through the lobby and two exits with a card swipe. There was a pool, but I didn't use it. There was also an electric furnace that you could use to set an exact temperature in your room, I liked that.

The only downside is that I could hear the highway from our room, and that there was currently construction and renovation going on, so there were boxes near the entrance and in the pool area. The woman working the desk told me that they were currently renovating the 2nd floor rooms and would be doing the 1st floor rooms, soon.

Checkout was easy, and the continental breakfast was ok. I just grabbed some fruit and went about my day.

Dirty towels in the bathroom, rundown furniture and old bed clothes are just the beginning, the employees were smoking in the hall all night so we were choking on there smoke in our sleep, no HOT WATER for showers in the morning. we were stuck in a snow storm and had no choice but to stop, If you have a choice RUN RUN! They did offer us $10 off because there was no hot water LOL!

For a Quality Inn, it is very typical. The place has been changed from an Amerihost hotel (CENDANT) which usually are badly managed with the exception of a few places, being renamed was probably a tax issue as it is for areas and certain owners. I suspect this property will be renamed again very soon. Overall it wasn't the worst place I've stayed in but of course not the best. The beds were very worn and matted. Not comfortable at all also pricey @ 67.00 will not pay that much again for this place 47.00 would be more appropriate. Staff was okay, but more interested in a gathering in the parking lot, not sure what to make of that, but as long as it didn't interfere with my check in or safety, no biggie. If you chose to stay don't pay over 50.00 and it is AYOR.

Happy Travels

Now that our two daughters are older (10 and 15), we found the two-double-bed room to be smallish. The bathroom only holds the tub and the toilet - the sink and vanity are out in the room itself. That made for a rather tight fit when there are three females (plus husband/father) jockeying for bathroom and sink space. The room is otherwise OK -- big enough for the 2 double beds but not much else.

There had obviously been repairs to the shower head, as the wall where the shower head is mounted appeared to be recently spackled -- but had no wallpaper over the spackling. Also, the shower head sprayed water onto that freshly spackled wall, turning it into a mushy goo. The room should not have been rented out in the first place with that problem.

The air conditioner had a noisy vibration to it, and, even though there was an option for the fan to stay on at all times, every once in a while the fan would shut off. I am a light sleeper, and it's a must for me that there's an option for the fan to be on all the time even when the compressor cycles. That provides necessaryy "white noise" for me. I will not stay a second time at a hotel where the fan can not be left "on" when in either heat or cool mode.

We did mention the wall damage to the management after we spotted it, and they then gave us access to the adjacent room -- unoccupied -- in order to use the shower or, if we wished, to move there entirely. That was appreciated.

Breakfast buffet was basic - bulk purchased bagles, muffins and cereals, plus fresh fruit. Juices and semi-instant coffee (Douwe Egberts) were also available.

Biggest plus for the hotel was the pool - a distinctive feature across the Amerihost chain. Indoor, cedar celing / wall treatments. The water temperature was quite warm -- tolerable for frolicking, but overall too warm.

Would we stay again? If it's the four of us, we might check the nearby Hampton instead, in the hopes the room is bigger.
