“Needs updating”

I booked this hotel through choicehotels.com for just an overnight stay while traveling cross country. The hotel itself was not bad, however, the rooms are old and need updating. The bathroom was clean, but there was piece missing from the bathtub faucet. My daughter went to get a glass of water and the water a little yellowish, so we didn't drink it. The TV was still the old tube TV, not typical of most other Comfort Inns that I've staying in lately. For a busy travel day, I found it odd that there only about 5 guests in the entire hotel the night that we stayed, which made me wonder why. I had a good sleep, the bed was comfortable, but the linens needed updating as well. The continental breakfast consisted of bagels, toast, and few prepackaged cinnamon buns, and cereal. For the cereal we had to ask for milk because this was put out at all. The staff was nice, and we were only there for about 12 hours, so it was fine for what we needed, but I won't stay there again, there were enough other similar priced hotels with a couple of miles of this stop that would probably be in better condition.

“Great stay”

Clean rooms and a nice staff. The bed was very comfortable. I travel through the area a few times a year and will definitely use this hotel as my rest point.

“Would Never Recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

I booked this hotel through Travelocity as a "top secret" hotel having had good luck doing that before, but this was a bad experience. There was a reservation, but he wanted to argue with me that it was not pre-paid, wanted me to pay again and then told me he could only give me a smoking room, that non-smoking would cost more. At that point I called Travelocity amd they got everything straight (non-smoking room).

Breakfast was very marginal and if you got there a little late you were out of luck because they do not replenish anything.

Won't stay there again.

“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Convenient to Int 70, although it is hidden behind a low cost motel and initial impression is that it is a part of that facility. Lobby clean; apparently staffed by family members which at one point were involved in an apparent disagreement which could be heard "down the hall". Room was clean and average size. I thought this might have been a smoking room at one time, but my wife, who normally picks up cig smoke before me said she did not at this time. Bathroom seemed to be recently renovated with new fixtures and was exceptionaly clean. Common area, such as where vending machines were located as well as guest laundry was in dire need of a good cleaning. This motel has no pool. Breakfast area appeared to be clean and looked to have the usual motel fare, however, we chose to go the Waffle House, across the street.

“Smells AWFUL”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

Drove back to Chicago from Raleigh NC at the end of July, and ended up getting caught in a line of nasty thunderstorms that were far too unsafe to drive in, so we pulled off of the highway and went for the first hotel that we saw- which was this one. Stayed with my partner and my almost-2 year old daughter, but we had a playpen so she didn't need a bed. My partner booked the room before we even got out of the car, because we had already been on the road for 11 hours. Upon entering the hotel, I noticed a foul and pungent odor that I later discovered to be cigarette smoke [or so my partner claims.] The decor in the hotel is extremely outdated, and the carpets are disgusting. The ENTIRE hotel smells of smoke, and does not smell clean at all [nor is it]. The guy at the front desk was okay- not the worst of hotel service, but definitely not the best either. We got a non-smoking king room, but the entire "nonsmoking" room had a cigarette smell, and there was only one towel in the room for the three of us to share. None of the trash cans had liners, either [and my daughter is still in diapers]. There were stains on the one towel that we did have in our room. The television is very old as well [but it still works]. The bedding was very stiff, and uncomfortable. The alarm clock was broken, and we needed to use it. The free breakfast, though there was a wide variety, was extremely disappointing. The cereal was stale, the waffles tasted like cardboard, and the orange juice was really orange-juice flavored water. We have to make the drive back to Raleigh in a couple of weeks, and plan on staying at a hotel midway there- but definitely will not be staying here again. We'd just come from staying at a wingate hotel in Raleigh, and ended up spending much less on our hotel in Raleigh than we did here at Comfort Inn- and Comfort Inn is a lower class hotel!
