I booked this place at the last minute since there were limited accommodation available over the new year period. I jumped on tripadvisor and read through some of the recent reviews which seemed to be negative.
When we arrived we were greeted by the owner operator, he was welcoming and mannered. We stayed in a spa unit for two nights. The Unit was a little withered, but everything was in working order and the bed was squishy. I can say that the unit itself is outdated, however it was very clean and the amenities were sufficient. There was a dual dvd and video player (you can hire some movies from reception) The facilities around the area were great! Big (free) bbq, nice tidy pool, pretty garden, parking on site and loads of tables and chairs. The atmosphere is family friendly, and it was that, lots of kids playing around the pool. Also to add, you are less than a 5min walk to the main drag in Cowes.
I don't agree with the reviews - I have stayed at 2 star to 6 star places (I travel a lot for work) and I can say apart from the place needing a little renovation, it was comfortable, full of character, located close to the action and had great amenities and facilities that would accomodate any family holidaying on a smaller budget.
