We stayed here for 2 nights in February. What an historic gem! From the outset, Carloyn could not have been friendlier or more helpful. She had emailed detailed directions with stops and coffee spots along the way from both Hobart and Launceston - how helpful is that?
Our room was the FO Henry one. There was the original large wardrobe that had come out from England and had stayed in the one spot in the house since it was built. The room had a good sized ensuite with toiletries, lovely comfy 4 poster bed, small fridge and wifi for $5 for your whole stay. The gardens are just lovely and it is fun to go upstairs to the small history room and to the tower at the top of the house.
Upon our arrival there were little cakes to have with afternoon tea and we were given more little cakes to see us on our way to Hobart,
Breakfast was from 7.30 and consisted of cereals, yoghurt and milk and a tasty warm dried fruit compote. Fresh and tea and coffee were available as well as toast and warmed croissant. The tables are set with lovely china and jams in little dishes and butter curls not packets! There was certainly enough to get you going for your busy day of touring.
The whole house is full of lovely old furniture and heavy drapes. You really get a feel for what the house must have been like when it was first built.
