“Great hotel in a fantastic location.”

This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. The hotel faces Coles Bay and the scenery is simply breathtaking. There is a patio outside every room. I was having my morning coffee on the patio when two wallabies came up and started feeding on the grass. I don't think you can top that experience. The location is also great because the hotel is very close to the entrance to the Freycinet National Park.

My room was very good and was in great conditions. My only gripe about the hotel was the water. I am not the first reviewer to complain about the yellow water running from the tap. I booked the hotel knowing the water situation; so I was not surprised. When I checked in, the front desk staff told me that the yellow tint comes from a natural tannin and is perfectly safe. I am not sure how safe tannin is; I was under the impression that the tannin used in leather tanning is harmful to the human body. In any case, it is not that the hotel has no capability to filter the water clean. The water running from the kitchen tap is. So I think the hotel is just too cheap to install filtering facilities to filter the bathroom taps, which, given how expensive the rooms are, is inexcusable.

In the end, I actually did not mind the yellow running water too much and had a fantastic time. I just wish the hotel would fix this glitch and it would be a fantastic hotel.

“You couldn't ask for a better base from which to explore Freycinet - and take it all in after your long walk.”

Get a beachfront studio. Even though they are in a block - because of their clever design you'd never know anybody else was there - except the wallabies.

“Great location for relaxing stay, but...”

My wife and I went on a driving holiday round Tassy and returned to Edge of the Bay after 7 year absence. Nothing has changed which is good and bad! Location is stunning.. Do make sure you get a room at the front for the view. Rooms are minimalist but fine. Biggest bug bare was the mini bar fridge was noisy and empty. We were told that there is no staff to manage mini bars....We ate in the restaurant where we found the food was good, service amateur friendly. You can't book a table so we were told. We wanted to sit at a table by the window to be told it was booked. Duh! Enjoyed the stay but...

“We will be back!”

My partner and l stayed at 'Edge of the Bay' for three days in December last year. We stayed in a suite & the bay view from the suite was magnificent. The suite felt private & it was quiet & we heard the bird life and even saw a few wallabies. The suite was modern, very clean & had everything we needed. Each morning l went for a stroll along the foreshore & it was the best way to start the day. We used the resorts bikes & even managed a hit of tennis. We ate in the restaurant one night & we both enjoyed our meal & the view of the Hazards. Overall it was just the relaxing holiday l needed. I found the staff to be friendly & helpful. I look forward to our next trip!

Room Tip: I would recommend staying in a suite for the view & closeness to the water.

“Great views”

We booked a 2 bedroom cabin (there are also hotel type rooms which looked much newer) which was comfortable rather than chic but had great views from the deck, master bedroom and living area. They do not have disabled units but my very recently broken ankle and wheelchair coped although I could not have a shower. We had 2 evening meals in the restaurant and enjoyed them both. Very popular with families and plenty of bush for children to explore. Convenient for exploring Wineglass Bay and Frecinyet.
