This is a great hotel in a fantastic location. The hotel faces Coles Bay and the scenery is simply breathtaking. There is a patio outside every room. I was having my morning coffee on the patio when two wallabies came up and started feeding on the grass. I don't think you can top that experience. The location is also great because the hotel is very close to the entrance to the Freycinet National Park.
My room was very good and was in great conditions. My only gripe about the hotel was the water. I am not the first reviewer to complain about the yellow water running from the tap. I booked the hotel knowing the water situation; so I was not surprised. When I checked in, the front desk staff told me that the yellow tint comes from a natural tannin and is perfectly safe. I am not sure how safe tannin is; I was under the impression that the tannin used in leather tanning is harmful to the human body. In any case, it is not that the hotel has no capability to filter the water clean. The water running from the kitchen tap is. So I think the hotel is just too cheap to install filtering facilities to filter the bathroom taps, which, given how expensive the rooms are, is inexcusable.
In the end, I actually did not mind the yellow running water too much and had a fantastic time. I just wish the hotel would fix this glitch and it would be a fantastic hotel.
