We stayed here for one night enroute to Strahan. We stayed in a recently renovated spa suite. The semi-detached cabin is very rustic on the outside and was located at the end of a small road with 2 other cabins. It was large inside with an enormous bed and crisp white sheets. There is a small sink/kitchenette area. We had little canapes, cookies and port available. There is a leather sofa in front of a fire you can choose to light. A glass door opens onto a balcony which looks straight out on to bush and a small stream. The bathroom is large with a corner spa and large shower area. Fluffy white towels and robes are provided. After dinner the bed had been turned down, heavy drapes closed and a scented oil candle had been lit in the bathroom.
Once you park there is no need to drive in the lodge area. There is a free guest laundry. We ate in the general eating area and it was OK. Breakfast was served in the restaurant area and was a buffet - very disappointing. The eggs had been sitting for some time and all of the pastries were mass produced and not warm. No pancakes!!
Would recommend the walks in the lodge area. The Enchanted Walk with a guide was really worthwhile. We saw pademelons, wallabies, a wombat and a blue wren. No platypus to be seen. Heard kookaburras.
This was the most expensive night on our holiday. The room and location was great but the food was disappointing. Yes, it's very remote and a long way to bring everything in but nothing compared with the quality of food available on the top of glacier ski areas in Austria.
