We didn't expect much, based on previous reviews, but although the place was clean and the staff friendly, I would not recommend that anyone stay there, unless they are desperate & very easily pleased.
When we drove around the corner and saw the great heap of leaves up against the front door of the unit, we should have taken that as prior warning of what was inside!
We had a twin suite in what looked like it had been 2 separate motel rooms linked together by knocking a hole in the wall.
My bedroom had what had originally been the shower, made into a cupboard.
The smallest TV I have ever seen was literally over my head on a shelf and could only be seen from the bed in the other room, through the hole in the wall. I was worried all night that the TV would fall off and land on top of me.
The toilet and shower were in my bedroom, but the wash basin was in the other bedroom, so if you went to the toilet you had to go through one room, and then back out to the other bedroom to wash your hands: bizarre, in a word.
We only stayed, after we initially saw the room, because we had paid our money and it was dreadful weather, so we thought, what the hell, it's only one night.
Bad decision, as the possums in the roof started to have a fight or mate or whatever possums do around 11pm and continued on for most of the night.
At 5am we decided we had enough and braved the cold and wet to get out of there.
Truly, the place is clean, nice sheets & towels and they have electric blankets & heating, but the rooms look like the place should have been knocked down 30 years ago. It reminded of somewhere you might stay on a very primitive school camp or like workman, miners accommodation, very very basic.
No one would stay there again unless forced to, or unwittingly,as we were.
For a start, it is not near anything, and I got the impression that it is probably in the old part of town, where the highway used to be at one stage. There is no reason to go there now: no restaurants, clubs, shops, nothing.
The management needs to do something drastic to bring it up to standard. I doubt any amount of money could fix it really, perhaps a bulldozer?
We aren't fussy by any means & at $75.00 a double it's not a fortune to pay, but I think expecting the absence of possums and having a decent bathroom & basic facilities is not to much to ask in 2011.
